Essential Job Functions
* Collects soiled/reusable equipment and instruments. Using state of the art sterile processing methods and strict adherence to established procedures, manually/mechanically decontaminates instruments, trays and equipment.
* Sterilizes patient care equipment and supplies by operating sterilizing equipment according to established policies/procedures and following manufacturer's instructions. 'assures processed instrumentation meets the stringent criteria for sterility and use in the OR prior to distribution.
* Inventories/stocks and delivers supplies, carts, equipment to all facility areas as needed. Determines adequate levels of reserve supplies for routine use and emergency situations. Rotates stock, inspecting for outdates, ensuring stock for perioperative room is located to designated areas. Notifies supply chain supervisor of missing items on case cart pick sheets.
* Assists with orientation of new employees. Participates in department meetings, in-services and QA/QI planning.
* Performs and documents quality control aspects of sterile processing. Accurately maintains comprehensive quality assurance standards related to sterilization and infection control in a sterile area.
* Ensures that controlled activities (i.e., equipment sterilization, PAR levels, sterile wraps, etc.) are documented and maintained in a matter commensurate with accepted standards and protocol.
* Performs duties of instrument technician as needed.
* Fulfills surgical patient material needs by building case cart requisitions and immediate requests as required, and delivers items to the end user by various transportation modes within the facility as part of supply management including perioperative and cardiovascular operating rooms

Essential Functions:

Applies proper knowledge of various detergents and chemical disinfectants for use in the decontamination and removal of blood, bone, and other body tissues from contaminated surgical equipment. Adheres to standard precautions while performing cleaning and sterilization duties.
Inventories, stocks, and delivers supplies, carts, equipment to all facility areas as indicated per facility guidelines. Orders, restocks, labels, and maintains proper inventory levels. Rotates stock, inspecting for outdates per market requirements.
Performs and documents quality control aspects of sterile processing using various information technology systems focusing on instrument tracking, surgery schedules, surgeon preference cards, supply ordering and management. Accurately maintains comprehensive quality assurance standards related to sterilization and infection control.

Participates in ongoing educational and competency verification opportunities.
Participates in the orientation of new staff and students as assigned.
Participates in the continuing development of personnel in the Operating Room.

The Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) at the Cleveland Clinic Administrative Campus allows caregivers to remotely monitor patients 24/7, helping enhance care and health outcomes. As A Cardiac Monitor Nursing Technician on this team, you play a critical role in ensuring patients have access to the medical services as needed, especially during emergencies. You will promptly alert nursing staff of any alerts or alarms, helping facilitate effective intervention and safety protocols. This position offers a unique way to directly improve the Cleveland Clinic experience, develop new skills and pursue advanced opportunities within an innovative healthcare setting.
A caregiver in this position works rotating days/nights from 6:30AM - 7:00PM or 6:30PM - 7:00AM, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
* Perform ongoing surveillance of patients' cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
* Notify nursing caregivers of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact the patient's condition.
* Interpret patient's cardiac rhythm and document in the patient's electronic medical record.
* Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information.
* Orient and mentor new caregivers and serve as a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units.
* Provide reports for the oncoming shift.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* High school diploma or GED.
* Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities through successful completion of a formal training program in Allied Health or a healthcare field

Job DescriptionDescriptionThe Ophthalmic Technician participates in the care of patients in a clinic setting. As an Ophthalmic Technician you will greet patients and explain what they should expect during their appointment. An Ophthalmic Technician escorts the patient to an exam room and performs diagnostic ophthalmic tests and procedures prior to physician seeing them such as visual acuity, tonometry and lensometry. Assures appropriate notes and updates patient chart/records accurately. Maintains clinic environment including sterilization cleaning.

What you will be doing
Interacts with patients to accurately gather information and enter it into our electronic medical records system;
Proactively engages patients in communicating what to expect with the visit and continues to communicate delays or any other changes with the patient.
Initiates and performs documentation of the patient's chief complaint, present illness, and captures past medical history.
Accurately records all information in EMR system according to established standards and physician requirements
Conducts tests and measures eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity.
Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes
Assists with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections and laser treatments, in an exam room or treatment room, including preparing patients for sterile procedures.
Educates patients regarding the administration of medications, and pre and post operative instructions, as directed by physicians.
Readily scribes for physician
Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, completing diagnostic and procedure coding, and keeping patient information confidential, following all HIPAA requirements.
Utilizes effective problem-solving skills to respectfully and efficiently de-escalate any dissatisfied patients
Demonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms & ocular medications
Stay current with the latest technologies and medications and be able to answer general patient questions
Assists team members and completes other special projects as requested.
