IFAC company history timeline

1977

The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) was officially constituted in October 1977 at the World Congress of Accountants in Munich.

1978

The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) was founded in March 1978.

1982

To minimize duplication of effort, both organizations agreed in 1982 to have a uniform membership in which IASC would concentrate on promoting harmonized accounting standards while IFAC would focus on promoting harmonized professional standards.

1991

In 1991, the IAPC’s guidelines were recodified as International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).

2004

In 2004, the IAASB began the Clarity Project, a comprehensive program to enhance the clarity of its ISAs.
