Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate equipment in a manner that meets our safety, quality and production standards.
Setup machines to meet specifications according to the job ticket provided.
Refer to the job ticket to locate important information to ensure job accuracy.
Run equipment at target productivity metrics to complete jobs on time.
Work safely to prevent accidents by keeping the area clean and free of any trip hazards.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must be able to read and understand a job ticket and adhere to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
Mechanically inclined.
Familiarity with basic mathematics (decimals, metric units) to understand dimensional requirements contained in the job ticket, and to make more complicated adjustments.
Must be able to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment and be held accountable for the quality of work produced.
Ability to bend, kneel, reach, stand and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.

Responsibilities/Tasks
Follow all safety procedures at all times, including lock-out tag-out procedures, any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.
Follow standard work; retrieve and load materials; and prep jobs for converting.
Operate production equipment for one or more processes, including printing, laminating, cutting, end sheet fabrication, perfect binding, case making, casing binding, and associated support equipment.
Communicate orally or in writing about process changes and equipment failures.
Monitor the quality of product and report all variations to manager.
Participate in Lean and Continuous improvement events and initiatives.
Work in a manner that is in alignment with DIY's values.
Requirements:
Educational and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of machineoperation experience.
Prior book manufacturing equipment experience, such as working with print binding or finishing, is preferred.
Special Skills Required
Language - Must be able to take direction and communicate in Basic English as well as read and understand written documents.
Math - Must be able to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of the Standard/Imperial measuring system is required, and knowledge of the metric system is a plus.
Understanding and use of basic measuring instruments required; micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure is required.
Have reasonable organizational skills and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to earn pallet jack certification with training provided by DIY.
Physical Demands
This position requires standing/walking for the full 8+ hour shift.
The work involves extended periods of repetitive motion.
