SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: The Data Analytics Intern will assist with the process of collecting,cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing data for the International Rescue Committee's New Yorkprogram office. The intern will receive first-hand experience in database management, metricsdevelopment and evaluation, and dashboard design and implementation. The intern will have theopportunity to network with other interns and program teams to build their problem solving andcollaboration capabilities. The intern will have the opportunity to identify an area of need anddesign a project that furthers their interests.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Perform data cleaning steps on large datasets.• Monitor data consistency issues, such as duplicate records, and communicate theseissues to their supervisor.• Perform monthly refreshes on existing Power BI reports.• Respond to requests for data from program teams as appropriate.• Perform data analysis techniques using DAX, including calculating measures andperforming joins.• Build new Power BI reports that reflect program needs when needed.• Design, build, and implement an intern-led project in the field of data analysis andvisualization.LEARNING OBJECTIVES:1. The WIOA Case Manager intern is an intern position to support the Adult Education Department with programs and referrals. As an intern, you will support IRC students enrolled in the online English Language classes to reach goals they set for themselves. Under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Program, the English Language classes, case management support, and career services at IRC will ensure that participants are connected to outside services. The intern will also assist in several administrative tasks related to WIOA grant and database management. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the field of case management and/or social service work with immigrants and refugees. RESPONSIBILITIES: In this position, the intern will support the Case Manager/Workforce Development Specialists with tasks related to social service, workforce, and legal referrals for clients enrolled in the Adult Education English language courses. The intern will create action plans, identify additional services needed, and monitor progress towards goals with individual students. · Assist Case Manager with a caseload of up to 128 students. · Conduct one-on-one meetings with clients to set SMART goals for employment or education needs. · Assist clients in developing resumes, cover letters, and preparing for interviews. · Give digital literacy workshops to clients based on their proficiency with technology. · Track client meetings and progress in case notes and spreadsheets. · Research referral opportunities in NYC. · Gain an understanding of IRC services to refer students to. · Communicate effectively with clients in person and via telephone. · Adhere to IRC policies, particularly those related to confidentiality and client privacy. · Ability to work with clients from multiple backgrounds with varying English skills. This position will work with staff, interns, garden members, volunteers, and community members to increase production and information exchange at the farm and garden sites.     Expected duration Three to Six Months Duties and Responsibilities The internship is in the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict (O-SRSG-SVC), an office of the United Nations Secretariat that supports the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict (SRSG-SVC). The mandate of the SRSG-SVC was established through the adoption of Security Council resolution 1888 in 2009 to tackle conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) as a peace and security issue, while also bearing in mind other serious violations of human rights that occur during armed conflict. The SRSG-SVC serves as the United Nations' spokesperson and political advocate on CRSV, including rape, sexual slavery, forced prostitution, forced pregnancy, forced abortion, enforced sterilization, forced marriage, trafficking in persons when committed in situations of conflict for the purpose of sexual violence/exploitation and any other form of sexual violence of comparable gravity perpetrated against women, men, girls or boys that is directly or indirectly linked to a conflict. The Office is currently seeking an intern to support the development and implementation of OSRSG-SVC communications strategy. The Internship is for a period of three (3) months with an opportunity for an extension of up to three (3) additional months, depending on the needs of the office. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns are required to work five days per week (35 hours) under the direct supervision of the Public Information Officer and in collaboration with the Programme Team. The work hours during internship shall be determined based on individual discussion between the intern and the supervisor(s) taking into consideration the requirements of the Organization and any possible time difference between the hosting office and the location of the intern. Within limits of delegated authority, the duties of the Intern may include, but are not limited to: - Web: Assist in researching, cataloguing and uploading documents in the digital library of the OSRSG-SVC website; assist in creating content and updating webpages. - Social Media: Draft and publish messages on X, Facebook, Instagram and Threads with appropriate tagging; assist in analytics. - Media Monitoring: perform the media monitoring twice a week to monitor the security, political, and humanitarian situation in specific countries of concern for Conflict-Related Sexual Violence. - Audio Visual: Provide support in creating visual communications, such as photos, short videos, infographics. - Events: assist in the planning of outreach activities around the organization of main events, such as the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, the Open Debate on CRSV, and other special events. - Attend relevant meetings and prepare meeting notes. - Perform any other tasks required by the supervisor. Qualifications/special skills To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent) Applicants must also: - Be computer literate in standard software applications - Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter - Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
