The headquarters Resettlement Team oversees the implementation and quality of services for refugees within their early resettlement period. The team supports IRC local office staff and partners in implementing high-quality programs by providing technical assistance, training and monitoring. The Program for Initial Resettlement (PIR) Program, funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), coordinates placement and resettlement services to newly arriving refugee populations into the US. The Program Officer for Resettlement Partnerships' role is primarily focused on expanding the national geographic footprint of the program through partnerships. The position will be responsible for identifying, reviewing and onboarding new formal and informal partners in resettlement. The Program Officer provides technical assistance for quality programming, including training, monitoring and reporting in partner locations where the program is implemented. This role requires a strong attention to detail and expert-level data analysis to monitor trends, and ensure compliance. The PO reports to the Senior Program Officer, Program for Initial Resettlement within the Resettlement, Asylum and Integration Department in the US. Major Responsibilities: • Oversee and coordinate the identification, training and mentoring of local organizations in all aspects of PIR programming and operational delivery. Support the direct delivery of training as needed. • Through mastery of IRC's partnership model and policies, implement recruitment, vetting and management of partnership agreements • Working with new and potential partners, lead the development and documentation of policies and practices that promote program compliance and excellence. • Lead the development and management of training and technical assistance by liaising with IRC subject matter experts to coordinate high-quality information sharing for new/emerging resettlement agencies (RAs). • Ensures completion of all activities in the program cycle including reporting, data collection, proposal writing, monitoring, training, and pipeline management. • Guide internal and donor monitoring and co-monitor local offices for compliance with program guidelines. Advocate and help remove office barriers to full program compliance. • Help to coordinate the development of a PIR Program toolkit and New-to-PIR Learning Series to include compliance guidance and reference manuals. Ensure materials remain current. • Contribute to training and compliance initiatives in IRC offices. • Re-start sponsor circle initiatives and volunteer support for initial resettlement. • Contribute to donor reports and proposals. • Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Education: • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Social Work, International Affairs, or related field highly desirable. Work Experience: • Minimum five years progressive non-profit experience, preferably with experience in the former Reception and Placement Program under USRAP. • Previous experience leading program design, budget and implementation, monitoring program compliance and providing technical assistance required. The Critical Incident Stress Management Section (CISMS) coordinates the Management of Stress and Critical Incident Stress (MSCIS) across the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS). The section leads the systematic integration of psychosocial support measures in the preparation for, response to, and recovery from critical incidents and emergencies affecting UN personnel and dependents. CISMS fulfills this accountability in collaboration with multidisciplinary partners (security, HR, UN Agency counsellors, medical, first responders and crisis managers) in the UN Secretariat and the UN Specialized Agencies, Funds and Programmes. CISMS is seeking a home-based, part-time consultant to support the delivery of critical psychosocial programs in the section. Duties and Responsibilities The Language and Communications Training Unit (LCTU) at the Capacity Development and Operational Training Services (CDOTS), Office of Support Operations (OSO), Department of Operational Support (DOS), promotes linguistic balance and multilingualism within the Secretariat and improves the language abilities of staff, as mandated by the General Assembly in its resolutions A/RES/78/330, 2480 B (XXIII), 43/224D and 50/11. To do so the LCTU offers language and communication skills courses in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish to staff members at UN Headquarters in New York and also in the Global Secretariat. The staff members who are hired as language teachers in the LCTU are distributed across the six language programmes to work in the development, delivery and the assessment of language and communication skills offerings aligned with organizational goals and priorities, and according to General Assembly mandates, UN policies and instructions on learning, and the Secretary-General´s recommendations on multilingualism. To attend to the demand of language learning these language teachers are unable to cover, the LCTU would need to hire additional teachers as individual contractors on a part-time basis. The number of contractors to be hired varies depending on the demand and the budget available. These teachers can also work on language projects, such as updating and/or design and development of language and communication skills courses and materials, as required. The duties of Chinese part-time language teachers are to promote multilingualism and to help UN staff develop more effective work-related communication skills in Chinese. These duties include the following: - Prepare and teach Chinese language and communication skill courses at all levels via in-person, online, or hybrid modality, assess students' performances and provide feedback. - Use Learning Management Systems (such as Moodle) and e-learning tools in course preparation and delivery. - Administer the course in the Learning Management System, including maintaining attendance and grading records. - Develop new Chinese language and communication skills courses (including self-study courses) and learning materials, using innovative instructional technology. - Design Chinese language learning assessments, construct and grade language proficiency exams following specific guidelines. Qualifications/special skills Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in language area studies, language teaching, applied linguistics, communication or education/pedagogy or related area is required. Degrees with special emphasis on the theory and practice of teaching a second or foreign language to adult learners are desirable. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Post-degree training in second or foreign language teaching is highly desirable. A minimum of five years of experience teaching Chinese as a foreign or second language to adults in a multi-cultural setting (corporate, academic or other professional setting), is required. The Intern will work as part of a data team to develop and deploy data science methods to identify and measure harmful speech in peacekeeping settings. The Intern will report to the Data Scientist and the Senior Programme Management Officer of the Information Integrity Unit. The Policy and Best Practices Service (PBPS) is part of the Policy Evaluation and Training Division (DPET) of the Department of Peace Operations. The core function of PBPS is to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of peacekeeping operations through the exchange of good practices between missions, the development of guidance material that reflects lessons learned, and thematic policy support in selected areas. This internship is UNPAID and is designed to be in person and full-time (35 hours per week) on the United Nations premise (New York, USA). This internship can be adjusted based on the needs of the successful candidate to part-time (20 hours per week) and/or remote. The SRSG-SVC serves as the United Nations' spokesperson and political advocate on CRSV, including rape, sexual slavery, forced prostitution, forced pregnancy, forced abortion, enforced sterilization, forced marriage, trafficking in persons when committed in situations of conflict for the purpose of sexual violence/exploitation and any other form of sexual violence of comparable gravity perpetrated against women, men, girls or boys that is directly or indirectly linked to a conflict.
