Job Description:

Office Management:
Responsible for the front lobby area to include greeting visitors, clients, and vendors in a professional manner.
Answer and direct incoming calls to appropriate personnel.

Coordinate day-to-day office operations, including handling mail and couriers, managing office supply procurement and organization, and overseeing kitchen maintenance.

Draft, edit, and proofread presentations, correspondence, memos, charts, tables, graphs, and other business documents.

The Opportunity
Are you passionate about engaging with children and learning through research? At Marbles, we listen to our guests to better understand their experiences and use that feedback to shape meaningful improvements. As part of the Learning Engagement Team, the Learning Engagement Intern will play a key role in this process by conducting in-person visitor surveys using the COVES tool (Collaborative for Ongoing Visitor Experience Studies) and by entering and aggregating archival survey data.

Manage the effective daily operation of a single project or multiple projects by providing technical and informational support to the project team. Role Purpose
Gain valuable experience supporting bioinformatics scientists with high throughput genomics data analysis
Learn to use cutting edge AI tools for gene expression inference
Work in a diverse team of computational biologists developing new innovations for agricultural biotechnology
Contribute to written reports and presentations
Accountabilities
Evaluate and compare high throughput analytical methods for genomics data analysis
Leverage Deep Learning models to optimize gene expression in crops
Document methods, workflows, and code in a reproducible manner
Create clear visualizations and summaries of analytical results
Collaborate with team members and communicate findings in group meetings
Qualifications
Requirements
Education
Pursuing MS or PhD in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, or related fields
Technical
Experience with Linux/Unix command line environments and shell scripting
Analytical coding languages such as Python or R
Knowledge of molecular biology and genetics
Experience using git for version control
Analytical
Ability to work with large datasets and implement reproducible computational workflows
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Requirements
Experience with high throughput omics data analysis (e.g., RNAseq analysis)
Experience with high-performance computing job schedulers (SLURM, etc.) and/or cloud computing (AWS, etc.)
Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively
Enthusiasm for learning new computational methods and tools
Experience presenting technical work to diverse audiences
