The Internship Coordinator (IC) is fully accountable for the pilot year revision and implementation of the Internship Program at one of Mastery's campuses. Formerly offered to only 10th grade students, this role will expand the traditional functions of a Mastery IC - mentor accrual, mentor and student training, and successful placement of students in internships that inform their postsecondary goals - to students in 10th-12th grade. Additionally, this role will build and implement a student participation tracking system and student readiness assessment to manage the program. The IC is a combined Instructor and Administrator position and is a member of the school's college team which includes an 11th grade College Coordinator and a 12th grade College Advisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and implement new tracking and assessment systems for student readiness and participation monitoring of internship completion for students in grades 10-12Create productive relationships and partnerships with approximately 100+ mentorship sites from a wide variety of professional industries Create an internship readiness curriculum portfolio to be taught in a practicum setting Build, maintain, and regularly communicate with a robust database of mentors and professional contacts to sustain the internship program for placements, site visits and Career DaySustain mentor participation and satisfaction of the program Effectively market Mastery and the Internship Program across Mastery and the wider Philadelphia community Plan, coordinate, and host events such as Career Day, Mentor Appreciation Night and Mentor BreakfastsTeach Internship Training and Practicum courses guiding students to understand resume writing and interviewing skills as well as workplace etiquette, roles and responsibilities Assist students in relating their abilities and interests to appropriate internship placements.
