Position Summary:
The Intern, Performance & Artist-in-Residence is a member of the Curatorial team who supports the programmatic vision through curatorial and administrative support as well as the multiple initiatives of the Artist in Residence Program. Reporting to the Curator, Performance and Director, Artist-in-Residence the Intern, Performance & Artist-in-Residence supports an active team in the research, planning and implementation of Performance and Artist-in-Residence activities across Crystal Bridges and the Momentary, including but not limited to: exhibitions, festivals, artist talks, special projects, and Artist-in-Residency visitors and programs.
Through curatorial research, producing, administration, planning and hosting, the Intern, Performance & Artist-in-Residence will support communication with artists and their representatives, external contractors, and community partners. This position requires being knowledgeable of all programs under the purview of Performance and the Artist-in-Residence program and acting as a bridge between idea generation, practical production, audience experience and artist relations. A strong collaborative spirit and interest in and experience with performance and artist relations is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Performance:
Support research and content development for the ongoing program of performances, presentations, commissions, and artist residencies

Support artist led, public facing opportunities under the supervision of Curator
Support design, development and presenting of internal and external share outs
Support development, maintenance, and monitoring of Performance budget in collaboration with collaborating departments
Support venue tours and brief staff and volunteers on program details
Provide organizational support for Performance projects, including scheduling project meetings, booking meeting rooms, preparing agendas and sending out notes focused on next steps
Support review and execution of contracts
Support the coordination Performance and Artist-in-Residence interns and volunteers
Support organizing, maintaining, and archiving project files and documentation
Support project management of Performance projects, working closely with the Curator, Production team, internal departments, and various outside vendors
Artist-in-Residence:
Support the daily operations of the Artist-in-Residence program
Support Curatorial Assistant, Performance & Artist-in-Residence Coordinator in arrangements for artists-in-residence, including housing, transportation, community connections, and in-studio/on-site needs.
Work closely with Curatorial team to support the growth and improvements of the developing program
Additional Responsibilities
Work closely with the other members of the Curatorial team, as well as with team members in Operations, Guest Experience, Brand Strategy and Communications, Learning & Engagement, Special Events

Qualifications:
Focus on Arts Administration, Curating, Art History or equivalent experience preferred.
Knowledge of Performance including music, theater, dance, performance art, time-based media preferred.
Knowledge of Visual Arts preferred but not required
Experience working with Artists preferred but not required
Proven experience and success in project coordination and in meeting deadlines within fast-paced working environments
Willingness to learn specialized software systems is preferred, including TMS, EMS, Workday
Ability to work independently, as well as within a team
Ability to maintain the highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of curatorial endeavor and to understand and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion

Weekly schedule to be arranged with direct supervisor. Interns are permitted to work up to 40 hours a week.

Compensation:
Undergraduate Interns: $13.00
Graduate Interns: $14.00

Housing

Position Summary
The Havner Curatorial Summer Internship at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is a paid, residential opportunity designed to provide first-hand experience within a curatorial department and meaningful exposure to the operations of a major American art museum. Havner Interns work one-on-one with a member of the Curatorial team and support a variety of projects, including exhibition development, object research, interpretive writing (such as object labels), and initiatives related to the full scope of the museum's collection, which spans the 18th century to today.
As part of Crystal Bridges' robust summer internship cohort, Havner Interns will join a vibrant community of colleagues across multiple departments. Through orientation, scheduled conversations, and cross-departmental engagements, interns will develop a broad understanding of museum practice while expanding upon their academic training and applying their knowledge in professional, real-world contexts.
This internship is open to current undergraduate juniors and seniors, as well as first- and second-year graduate students. The 8-week internship runs from June 1 through July 24, 2026. Interns are expected to work 35-40 hours per week. The stipend is paid biweekly, with undergraduate interns earning $13/hour and graduate interns earning $14/hour. Housing near Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is provided.

Work Environment

Housing

High School Interns: $12.00
Undergraduate Interns: $13.00

Housing
Housing for internship positions is contingent upon the availability of funding and is not guaranteed. Internships that include housing explicitly state this within the position description. Position Summary:
The Community Programs Internship in the Learning and Education department at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is designed to provide an overview of the skills and responsibilities needed for community building, socially engaged arts practices, arts administration, and production for a range of audiences for a museum setting and in local communities. The internship will include administrative, arts producing, and teaching experiences with diverse audiences.
The intern will assist with several programs including the CB to You: Mobile Art Lab that travels to libraries, afterschool programs, and neighborhood festivals, as well as supporting audience outreach and community group visits. The intern will assist with organizing kits from assembly, ordering supplies and contacting community partners to arrange delivery to the organization's location. They will conduct online research about community programs at other museums and enhance accessibility across the institution by writing and reviewing verbal descriptions of artworks and captions for videos.
The intern is part of the Community Engagement department and team, which may require additional program assistance as needed for the four pillars, as well as participation in team meetings and ideation sessions. There are several professional development opportunities throughout the summer cohort and opportunities to learn about various museum departments through lunch and learns and other programs with fellow interns.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Community Programs Intern will actively participate and perform duties in some of the following functional areas:
Administrative, Research and Writing
Research Community Engagement and socially engaged programs at other museums
Assist in writing reports and marketing descriptions for Community Engagement
Audience outreach includes special invitation email writing and surveys to specific groups.
Program Support
Facilitation and set up of programs that travel to locations around NWA. A vehicle will be needed to meet staff members at the location.
Supporting art kit outreach and organization of deliveries and assembly.
Administrative assistance on organizing reports and evaluation data.

Qualifications:
College student, sophomore or above
Experience or interest in teaching in museums or informal learning environments
Experience or interest in working with diverse audiences including individuals with disabilities
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, as well as within a team
Dependable and punctual.
Intern will require access to a vehicle for events located within the Northwest Arkansas Region.
Intern MUST work flexible hours that will include some nights and weekends.
