Recognize safety hazards and follow safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public. Learn proper operating procedures. Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings to troubleshoot plant equipment to resolve operational problems. Installs, maintains tests, inspects, and repairs generating station equipment such as boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels. Replaces bearings, packing in pumps and valves, shaft seals, sleeves, seats, and other miscellaneous parts used in plant equipment. Works with mechanics and skill enhancement employees to teach proper, safe use of tools and maintenance procedures. Perform safety related duties such as accepting work authorizations, hot work permits, confined space entry permits, etc. Ability to use hand tools (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, sledgehammers, etc). Ability to use shop tools (i.e. power saws, drills, drill presses, and lathes). Minimum Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED 2 years of military experience in mechanical maintenance repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of pumps, turbines, auxiliary equipment or engines OR machine shop equipment experience including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, fabricating and diagnostics.
