This is a 2026 summer internship in our Legacy Business Unit department. The intern will focus on the standardization of the tooling room through the implementation of the 5S methodology. The objective is to create a highly organized, efficient, and safe workspace by ensuring that only necessary items are present, every tool and material has a designated place, and cleanliness is maintained consistently. The intern will lead efforts to identify and remove obsolete tools, develop visual indicators for work-in-process items, and promote daily adherence to 5S standards among all users of the area.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
* Demonstrate an understanding of lean manufacturing
* Achieve full 5S compliance in the tooling room, resulting in improved organization, reduced waste, and enhanced productivity.
* Establish clear visual management systems for tools and materials.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability among team members using the tooling room.
* Document and propose processes and outcomes to support future standardization initiatives.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, CATIA V5, or similar)

* Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university seeking an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or other engineering related field and must reside in the United States.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS (Post SkillBridge):
This opportunity is part of the DoD SkillBridge program and is unpaid during the SkillBridge training period. However, if you are offered a position following your SkillBridge internship, the salary you can expect typically falls between $26 and $44.31 per hour/per year.
This post-SkillBridge position is eligible for overtime and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus, shift differential, or relocation assistance.
The final compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to: years of relevant experience, Falcon-specific experience, education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
