POSITION DESCRIPTION: Pyxera Global invites highly motivated recently graduated undergraduates to apply for a paid internship supporting our Programs Department. This is a hybrid role, requiring 20-40 hours per week with a combination of in-office time at our Washington, DC headquarters and remote.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The intern will be responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of diverse program activities as well as supporting specific department and unit initiatives or projects. They may also be asked to assist in business development activities, including monitoring opportunities across client/funder organizations and conducting research.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conduct country- or sector-specific research and assist in identifying local partner organizations
Draft and update program materials, including handbooks, onboarding guides, and training decks
Assist with project administration, including expense reports, scheduling, database updates, and meeting coordination
Audit and improve project management tools and processes, supporting SOP development and identifying workflow efficiencies
Participate in proposal development for clients and funders, including research, drafting sections, and formatting
Contribute to cross-functional collaboration, joining select internal meetings and helping track progress on department goals
Own discrete project tasks, such as managing timelines, tracking deliverables, or leading small workstreams with guidance from a supervisor

Communications: Provides C-SPAN programming and special projects information to national and local news outlets to generate press coverage.
2. Content: C-SPAN's programming department includes the following units, which choose, research, shoot and produce the programming for the networks:
American History TV: Every weekend offers American History TV, 24 hours of people and events that help document the American story. Washington Journal: Daily morning call-in program featuring leading journalists, public policy makers and authors discussing the top public policy issues of the day, from key legislation on Capitol Hill to important developments around the world.
Field Production: Handles audio, lighting and camera operation for events that take place in Washington or on the road and executes set-up and breakdown of equipment.
Program Producers: Develop specific live and taped public affairs programs that air on C-SPAN, C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3. These programs include Q&A, international programming, politics and special projects.
3. Content/TV Networks: This department is responsible for getting C-SPAN's product on the air. The editorial, technical, and information systems staff work closely together to ensure quality, balanced programming.
Editorial: Develops the daily schedule, tracks House and Senate floor debate, and coordinates elements for the final programming that airs on C-SPAN. Script writing, voice-overs, and writing and choosing Capital News headlines are just some of the responsibilities of this unit.
Technical: Works around the clock and is responsible for all the technical aspects of getting C-SPAN and C-SPAN2 on air 24 hours-a-day, including program direction, master control, camera operation, lighting and sound, editing, and on-air promotions.
4. Information Systems: Responsible for C-SPAN's information technology infrastructure, including local and wide area networks, servers and desktops and all commercial and custom applications.
5. Digital Technology: Develops and implements our strategies in the areas of online services, audio products and other developing technologies.
6. C-SPAN Radio: Broadcasts a mix of daily programs similar in style to those found on the
C-SPAN television networks, including congressional hearings, speeches, debates and forum discussions.
7. Engineering Responsible for the overall technical quality of C-SPAN's products; works with other departments to purchase and repair technical equipment; tracks new technologies and recommends ways C-SPAN can use these technologies to improve our product.

How Long Will This Internship Last?

What Kind of Work Will I Do?

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and can work independently as well as collaboratively with other departments and in a fast-paced environment. The Information Technology Intern's primary responsibility will be to respond to user questions and issues about PC's and provide Help Desk support. Internships at Truth Initiative! Truth Initiative is currently searching for energetic and COMMITTED individuals for our Internship Program. Could this be YOU? Moving toward empowering the first generation to end smoking is more than just a job 'it's what motivates us every day. We're looking for a qualified individual who shares this spirit to participate in our internship program.
As a Truth Initiative intern, you'll gain practical knowledge on public health issues, real world professional experience, valuable workplace skills and general career guidance. You'll work hard, learn a lot and have fun, too.

How Long Will This Internship Last?
The duration of the internship varies depending on the semester. The fall and spring internships align with university academic semesters, while the summer internship runs from June to August. Fall and Spring Interns are requested to work between 15 to 20 hours a week, while summer interns may work up to a full-time schedule (37.5 hours). Interns are eligible to participate in the program for up to two semesters.
What Kind of Work Will I Do?
* Research Interns - The Schroeder Institute will contribute to the department's research projects. Examples of past tasks of interns include conducting literature searches for projects, testing online surveys, content analysis (e.g., social media surveillance), and preparing results. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and can work independently as well as collaboratively with other departments and in a fast-paced environment. Current students pursuing their graduate degree in Public Health are preferred. An interest in behavioral research and/or interest in tobacco control research is a plus.
* The Information Technology Intern's primary responsibility will be to respond to user questions and issues about PC's and provide Help Desk support. PC support responsibilities will include, but not be limited to installing new and upgrading computers for staff, assisting with staff moves, and resolving hardware and software problems. The intern will also provide project based support in areas of interest to IT. Ideal candidates are current students pursuing their undergraduate degree in the areas of Electrical or Systems Engineering; Computer Science, or Business Information Technology.
* The Human Resources Intern will support Truth Initiative's Human Resources expertise center in various function areas and with special projects to broaden their knowledge of the HR function. They will assist with performance management projects, learn HRIS processes and assist in processing employee changes/updates, file/discard HR files and contracts consistent with Truth Initiative's document retention policy, read and understand Truth Initiative policies, procedures, and benefits to answer employee inquiries, and assist with updating benefits information into and HRIS. Ideal candidates are students currently pursuing an undergraduate degree with an interest in learning more about Human Resources as a profession.
What Kind of Background Do I Need?
Intern candidates are current students pursuing their undergraduate degree (graduate students are only considered for internships with our research and innovations teams). A passionate interest in public health or tobacco control is a plus. Experience working on multiple tasks and projects in a fast paced environment is essential.
