Updating and maintaining this tool will help attract the attention of and build relationships with international companies in Virginia's target countries of focus. The new tool, with the updated and verified data, will be featured prominently on VEDP's new website launching later in the year. In addition to helping with database clean-up, augmentation, and verification, the Intern will complete a summer project focused on better understanding foreign direct investment (FDI) trends in Virginia by company and industry relative to competitor states, with a focus on Virginia's core target sectors. The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate background that signals interest in quantitative analysis. The candidate will be seeking on-the-job experience in research and analytics, including data visualization, in a professional, economic development, and/or state government setting. The intern will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship.
