Our ten-month internship is designed for individuals eager to learn, engage with park guests, and assist in animal care across our diverse zookeeping teams. Interns will be on a daily rotation with 3 of our 5 animal care teams, allowing them to gain specialized experience. Additionally interns will have the chance to volunteer with all 5 care teams, providing a comprehensive experience across various animal species and care practices. With opportunities for hands-on learning, professional development, and guest interactions, this internship is perfect for those interested in pursuing a zookeeping, conservation, or wildlife-education career.
If you love watching guests feed lettuce to a giraffe, helping kids connect with lorikeets, chopping carrots, talking to guests about animals, and assisting keepers in daily husbandry and care then you need to spend the season with us!

What You'll Do
Animal Encounter Stations
Guest Engagement: Create memorable, safe, and educational encounters with animals, including giraffes, kangaroos, lorikeets, and more.
Educational Guidance: Share engaging facts and conservation information with guests, while ensuring encounters are safe for both animals and people.
Animal Encounter Stations: Prepare food, assist guests during feedings, and oversee interactions to ensure a safe experience.
Station Upkeep: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of each station.
Zookeeper Assistance
Morning and Afternoon Rounds: Spend 30 minutes to an hour each morning and afternoon with the zookeeping team, assisting with tasks such as food preparation, cleaning, and daily animal checks. Opportunities will be available to earn full paid days with keepers.
Tanganyika Keeper Teams are BRAVO (birds, roos, education animals, children's zoo, primates), Carnivores, Hoofstock, and TMC (penguins, otters, sloths, armadillos, primates).
Volunteer Opportunities
Interns will have the chance to work alongside all 5 care teams at the park, even if the team is not selected for the interns rotation.
Participate in special projects, routine animal care, and enrichment activities that enhance animal welfare and guest experiences.

Description Job Title: SkillBridge-Aircraft Assembly Intern What you'll be doing as a SkillBridge-Aircraft Assembly Intern: In this role, you will undergo an eight (8) to twelve (12) week comprehensive training period to develop the skills necessary for assembling and installing various mechanical, structural, and hydraulic components on aircraft.
Working with a range of materials including metals and composites, you will be equipped to handle major components and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality standards are met.
After completing the training program, and if offered a job in this arena, you will apply these skills daily in your new job.

The responsibilities for which you will be trained may include (but are not limited to): Assembly Operations: Perform tasks such as cutting, drilling, riveting, and fitting to complete assemblies and wing buildups, ensuring precise alignment of multiple parts Adhesive Application: Apply sealing, bonding agents, and other liquid adhesives according to specifications to ensure secure and durable assemblies Tool Utilization: Use a variety of power and hand tools, including aircraft mechanic tools, electric and pneumatic drills, and measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and tension meters Precision Work: Conduct precise operations in closed bays, such as drilling, reaming, shooting/bucking fasteners, and installing hi-locks Assembly Handling: Load and unload completed assemblies, while carefully handling the valuable components Qualifications EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Currently active-duty military and with command approval to participate in DoD's SkillBridge program Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.

Lockwood Broadcast Group, Inc. permits individual stations to provide internship opportunities as may be deemed appropriate in the discretion of the Station General Manager. Internships should provide participants with an opportunity to observe and participate in the operations of the Station in a manner designed to further their understanding and appreciation of the operation of a broadcast television station and the broadcast industry generally.
In order to ensure that we comply with applicable employment laws and other Lockwood policies, internships must comply with the guidelines as outlined below.
* Internships must provide training opportunities similar to training that would be provided in an educational environment. Training opportunities may include observations of various operational functions of the Station as well as hands-on experience where appropriate.
* The internship experience is for the benefit of the intern. Individuals may be interested in a career in broadcasting or the media or may be pursuing a course of study in a related field.
* Interns should not displace or otherwise serve as a substitute for regular employees. Interns should work under the close supervision of existing staff.
* The Station should not derive an immediate advantage from the activities of the intern, normal operations may occasionally be impeded by the use of interns. Internships offer an excellent opportunity to educate individuals interested in the broadcast industry and the operations of television stations. Taking the time to explain how we operate, why we do things a certain way, the functions within the Station and the role of the Station in the community will further the educational goals of the internship.
* Interns are not entitled to employment at the conclusion of the internship.
* Interns are not entitled to wages for time spent in the internship. There are certain programs that offer stipends or other payment in connection with internships in the broadcast industry. Participation in such programs is at the discretion of the Station General Manager must be in accordance with the rules of such program.
* At the specific request of a Station employee, an intern may ride with such employee in a Lockwood or Station vehicle (excluding news ENG live trucks and satellite trucks). Under no circumstances may an intern operate any motor vehicle owned by Lockwood or Station, or ride in a news ENG live truck or satellite truck owned by Lockwood or Station.
* Interns must be over the age of 18 and are required to sign an Internship Agreement.
