About the Role At our manufacturing facility in Newton, Iowa, the Interpreter/Translator facilitates effective communication throughout the organization by converting spoken messages or written text from one language into another language (English and Spanish). This role plays a key part in driving a culture of engagement, safety, and operational excellence to meet the business units' operational and financial objectives. Primary Responsibilities: Minimum High school graduate; associate degree or higher preferred. Convert concepts in the source language to equivalent concepts in the target language. Relay the style and tone of the original language. Render spoken messages accurately, quickly, and clearly. Convert written materials from one language into another language (English and Spanish). Perform simultaneous interpretations during New Hire classes, All-plant meetings, roundtables, benefits meetings, etc. Perform administrative duties as necessary in support of training and human resources. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications/Skills/Experience: Minimum High school graduate; associate degree or higher preferred. Speak, read, and write fluently in English and Spanish. Computer proficiency including MS Office. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality of personal/sensitive information. Ability to convert written materials from English to Spanish and Spanish to English, preserving style, tone, meaning. Substitute/Substitute Interpreter Job Summary: Substitute Spanish Interpreters are needed district-wide to assist Spanish speaking student/s with classroom activities and work, including homework, when one of our Spanish Interpreter employees is absent. Substitute Interpreters might also need to assist in the translation of materials from English to Spanish and serve as a communicator between student, parent, staff and administration. Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Provide accurate and effective interpretation (or translation) of procedures and other interactions for Spanish speaking patients (both adult and adolescent) their families, and staff, via phone, in person or in writing. Provide accurate and effective translation of written documents, correspondence and brochures used by patients, family and staff. Educate staff on the technology available to perform translation services when needed. Greets and directs all patients, visitors, sales representatives, etc., who need assistance to the appropriate department and/or staff member using AIDET. Receives and interviews patient or responsible individual to gather, verify and enter demographic and insurance information necessary for completion of electronic health record and insurance claim processing at each patient visit in electronic health record. Responsible for obtaining patient information from other practitioner offices for scheduling and assigns time for exams. Coordinates scheduled exams with mobile and contracted companies. Educates outside practitioners and office staff as to ordering outpatient services at CCH. Compile and distribute information regarding personal, insurance and financial status. Provide appropriate forms to billing and other departments. Communicates and coordinates services with internal departments and internal and external practitioner office staff. Assists in orientation/training of new employees. Conducts audits of the scheduling system to ensure standards are being met when requested. Actively participates in developing plans to implement new procedures and processes - working collaboratively with other departments, practitioners and contract services. Review and maintain appropriate computer master files: patient master data, guarantor, physician and insurance as well as correlating appropriate manuals. Maintain all required records, reports, statistics, etc. Demonstrates creative, critical thinking skills. Completes all paperwork related to the registration process. Offers assistance regarding financial counseling using established guidelines. Obtains current insurance billing information and policy benefits on all patients. Successful fulfillment of responsibilities will ensue timely follow-up with patients, and that appropriate financial arrangements are secured for self-pay or under insured patients. Schedules, preregisters, cancels, reschedules tests and procedures for clinics and hospital and coordinates scheduling of tests and procedures to assure they meet medical necessity, patient, department and practitioner needs while maintaining appointment schedule according to department procedure. Collect payments, issue receipts and reconcile daily receivable activity. Assist with financial counseling on self-pays. Educate patient/guarantor regarding insurance benefits; making arrangements for payment of co-pays, co-insurance and/or deductibles. Verifies insurance benefits with insurance companies via phone calls, faxes or internet and documents verification in each patient record, as appropriate. Enters reason for tests/procedure to meet medical necessity and refers to UR for further review if needed. Refers tests/procedures to UR that need prior authorization. Receives, transcribes, schedules and scans practitioner orders into electronic record daily. Ensure the patient or guardian understands and signs consent, insurance and other required forms. Answer their questions and provide non-medical information and/or direct to appropriate person or department. Qualifications: Maintain competency in target language through certification as required by Hospital policy for Medical Interpretation. Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Ability to pass certification requirement within first 90 days of hire. Board Certification (Certification received from a governing board such as NCAA) for Medical Interpreters desired but not required. Ability to read, write, & speak in English and Spanish. As an Interpreter at PHC, you will provide excellent customer service to patients, clients, providers, and staff. You will provide comprehensive simultaneous and asynchronous interpretation for non-English speaking people, their families and health center staff to ensure that language barriers do not impede the delivery of high-quality medical care, contributing to improved patient outcomes and satisfaction. JOB TITLE: Rundi Spoken Language Interpreter - Independent Contractor FLSA STATUS: Independent Contractor JOB SUMMARY: Qualified Foreign Language Interpreters are responsible for facilitating on-site, online, and phone interpreting in a professional and accurate manner. Interpreters will make use of the necessary platforms (Boostlingo, Zoom, etc.) and equipment (as needed) to provide accessible, clear, and articulate interpretations. Interpreters must possess and maintain competence, proficiency, and professionalism in English and their other working languages. Due to the sensitive nature of much of the information processed during an interpretation session, interpreters must adhere to ethical and confidential standards at all times. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate many kinds of face-to-face conversations for customers, settings may include emergency rooms, medical, legal, social services, and educational. Effectively interpret between people who speak different languages, accurately repeating critical information from one person to another. Perform translations that are grammatically and syntactically accurate. Punctuality and attendance are expected; timeliness is necessary as it directly reflects on the agency as well as the interpreter. If an issue arises it is the interpreter's responsibility to inform the scheduling staff as soon as possible. Interpreters are expected to work collaboratively with other internal or external interpreters. As a representative of Hands Up Communications interpreters should exhibit professional behavior including attire, timeliness, attitude, manner, and overall behavior. Interpreters are expected to adhere to ethical standards, procedures, and protocols specific to interpreting context (i.e. hospitals, courts, schools, etc.). Confidentiality is required for all interpreting assignments unless specific circumstances arise that would cause the interpreter to violate the law. As an Interpreter at PHC, you will provide excellent customer service to patients, clients, providers, and staff.
