Job Summary
Provides sign language interpretation for signing Deaf or Hard of Hearing students mainstreamed into regular education classes. A Brief Overview
The Medical Interpreter I supports provision of family-centered care by mediating communication between clinicians or staff and patient families who prefer a Language Other than English (PLOE). The Medical Interpreter I interprets during clinical and non-clinical interactions to support to families and staff in accurate and complete exchange of information during treatment or research cycles. We are seeking a Mandarin interpreter for this position.
What you will do
Responsibilities of the Medical Interpreter I include working at visits of anticipated routine or general complexity at specialty visits and research study encounters.
The Medical Interpreter I:
* Identifies, assesses, and responds to interpreting needs of patients and families as directed by the Manager. Presents assessment of needs as gathered from the family to assist other professionals in the overall communication and planning.
* Reports to manager regarding any concerns regarding unmet communication needs or patient safety.
* Works at encounters including the entire arc of treatment or study participation, from seeking an initial referral, appointment scheduling, and coordination of ongoing care or study visits through eventual discharge or study completion.
* Completes and submits all required periodic reports for division data collection accurately and on time.
* Complies with all hospital policies and procedures, with special attention to confidentiality and security of patient information.
* Adheres to professional standards and codes of ethics as published and endorsed by national professional interpreter associations including National Council of Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC) or the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
* Works closely with members of support services teams (such as social work, child life, chaplaincy, etc.) to integrate families with a preferred language other than English (PLOE) into existing services across the enterprise.
* Promotes a culture of hospitality and service both internally with CHOP departments and externally to existing and potential families.

This includes spoken and written language needed in the health care environment. The interpreter abides by the professional code of ethics. Functions in the capacity of Professional Medical Interpreter, and Translations Specialist. Functions as a Linguistic Services Coordinator as needed, under limited supervision, receives requests from providers, processes and arranges interpreter services. Triages and prioritizes scheduling requests for services according to established protocols. Deploys staff interpreters and arranges for vendor interpreters to fill requests. Trinity Health Mid Atlantic - St. Mary Physician's Group is looking for a Per Diem Laborist to join our team St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne Bucks County, PA. Provides medical oversight for the Labor and Delivery and Post Partum Units to ensure the care and safety of St. Mary's Maternity patients.
Communicate clinical status of patients with the attending physician
Perform initial H&P and assessment on arrival if not done by the attending
Complete discharge instructions as needed prior to patient discharge, if not done by attending as required
Evaluate OB/GYN patients at the discretion of the attending OB/GYN within 30 minutes, if feasible
Current with Peri-Facts Program requirements.
Participate in educational programs as needed and as mutually agreed upon by the Hospital and the Department of OB/GYN
Oversee the Labor, Triage, Delivery and Recovery areas, keeping a working knowledge of all patients in these areas. Communicate effectively with the attending physician.
Complete progress notes on all patient contacts in a timely manner
**Requirements:**
Active PA Med License
NCC certification in fetal monitoring within 6 months of hire
Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB
