Description
We are looking for a Journeyman-level TS/SCI-cleared Geospatial Linguist to join our team. This Spanish or Portuguese Geospatial Linguist shall analyze and conflate information associated with feature data listed in the Geographic Names Database (GNDB) while working closely with Intelligence Community (IC) geographic names experts. Selected candidate will use agency guidance and policies to respond to questions concerning the proper and correct usage of names, various Romanization systems, and the treatment of descriptive information on standard products. These services will use the Geographic Names Processing Systems (GNPS), charts, imagery and geospatial tools to refine names information for use in all types of products and to respond to use question via the Ad Hoc Query process. In addition, the candidate will prepare files and maps for work, accurately entering data to maintain and update the GNDB, including batching the completed work into the GNDB. The accuracy and reliability of the selected candidate's work is essential to the missions of these users.
Primary Responsibilities:
Selected candidate will scan and geo-reference hardcopy maps, research, and order geospatial data sources and commercial imagery to use as reference sources
Georeferenced maps and imagery must be conflated with the GNDB Selected candidate will interpret and apply national and international policies governing the treatment of and general guidelines emanating from the US Board on Geographic Names (US BGN), the Department of State (DoS), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and other related organizations
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a BA degree and 2 - 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
Qualified candidates will possess an ILR Skill Level Two certification for reading (DLPT5 2/2) in the language and have a minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience
Qualified candidates should also have experience using ArcGIS or GeoMedia Pro; creating shapefiles, geo-databases; utilizing native maps, secondary source maps, and historic maps for extraction and comparison; mapping imagery for stereo and mono extraction at various resolutions; and, expertise in research and information gathering
Preferred Qualifications:
Specific experience processing geographic names following agency policies and procedures is highly desired
Ideal candidate must be a self-starter and capable of working independently with minimal supervision and guidance
Candidate must be able to multitask and deliver quality products within specified timelines
Candidate should work well as part of a team effort
Security Clearance Requirement:

The Spanish Analytic Linguist will provide operational support to support linguist and translator duties as assigned by the PMO. Essential Job Duties

**Responsibilities**
**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Utilizing technology to transcribe spoken English in some settings.
+ Reading an original document and translating itintothe languagerequired.
+ Editing translated versions
+ Will need to be sensitive to the culture of the original languages and the target languages during the translation process

**Qualifications**
**Qualifications - Here's What You Need:**
+ High School/BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience
+ 3+ years of translation/interpertation in Ukrainian
+ Certified Translation Professional.
+ ATA Certification.
+ Translation Certifications.
+ Experience with State Department experience/ refugees, FDA, Health & Human services, Medical, Legal, Housing Authority etc.
+ Must be fluent in Ukrainian
+ Must be able to pass a background check. May requireadditionalbackground checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
+ The ability tofacilitatetranslation with discretion and impartiality.
+ Proficiencyin written communication
+ A wide breadth of knowledge in a variety of topics
+ Strong social awareness for interpretation with empathy and attentiveness

Applications are being accepted for a 6.5 hour per day Sign Language Interpreter position at Bellevue Public Schools. The Sign Language Interpreter works under the direction and supervision of a teacher or other designated member of the school staff. The Sign Language Interpreter assists students acquire skills and competencies taught by the classroom teacher. Duties include supervising and interpretering for students both one on one and when needed assisting the teacher in the classroom. Duties also include assisting in the lunchroom, transportation, and recreational activities in all areas of the building. Position Purpose: The Sign Language Interpreter provides interpreting and other support services to deaf and hard of hearing students. The SLI's primary function is to facilitate communication with peers, the classroom teacher, and other personnel in the school. Interpreting may include tutoring and participation in meetings as a member of the educational team.
Essential Performance Responsibilities

Meet professional development requirements as defined in Nebraska State Statute, Rule 51
Facilitate communication between hearing individuals and deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
Reinforce skills presented by the teacher.
Provide tutoring for deaf and hard of hearing students when necessary and interpreting is not required, and not during plan time.
Provide interpreting/transliterating for parent meetings during the duty day.
Assist in providing orientations about deafness and the use of sign language to hearing students and staff in collaboration with the Deaf Hard of Hearing Teacher, if needed (i.e.: beginning of the school year, new staff to building).
Assist in implementing classroom adaptations when appropriate, as determined by the IEP, educational team, or in consultation with special education personnel.
Provide general classroom assistance in general education or special education classrooms or occasional sign language instruction in mainstream classrooms when not scheduled to interpret not during plan time.
Work with audiologists and special educators to insure functional status and use of devices for deaf/hard of hearing.
Accept other responsibilities and duties as assigned by teacher, administrator, supervisor, or Lead EI/T when not engaged in interpreting.

Willingness to adhere to the Omaha Public Schools' EI/T Code of Ethics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum of an Associate's degree in Sign Language Interpreting
Candidate must receive a passing score on the EIPA written exam, and attain and maintain one or more of the following competency levels as defined in Nebraska State Statute, Rule 51:
E.I.P.A- 4.0 or above
Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf Certification (RID)
National Association of the Deaf (NAD)- Competency level 4.0 or above
National Interpreter Certification (NIC)\
Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST)-Competency level 4.0
Advanced knowledge and proficiency with American Sign Language, Signed Exact English, and/or other sign language systems, preferred.
Excellent attendance record.

This position is treated as a full-time non-exempt classified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment or teaching in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies, as those laws and policies may change from time to time, and the Teacher Contract. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative, then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.
