Job Summary
Our Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding of colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agent(s). The linguist will be responsible for transcribing source documents and recordings from storage media, including but not limited to audiocassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Listens to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provides verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as it may be applicable per project.
Responsible for relating all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
Contributes to a master-list of slang words and codes (used by a particular group/organization) for the duration of the project/case.
Maintains a voice library for the duration of the project.
Transcribes and translates pertinent calls and documents as assigned by their supervisor.
Produce court ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
Responsible for using the various reference tools created during the project.
Ability to transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
Operates specialized software equipment provided by the government to include JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment used at their assigned site.
Maintain daily log of productivity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years' experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND five (5) years' experience in a professional setting OR a High School Diploma AND seven (7) years of experience.
Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language

Must be a U.S Citizen
Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.

WORK SCHEDULE
Employees will be required to work nights, weekends and Holidays. Employees supporting this contract are considered ESSENTIAL to the Federal Government. This means that employees may be asked to work during emergency situations, including inclement weather, natural and man-made disasters, etc.

Under the general supervision of the manager, the Interpreter will provide translation from English to Spanish and vice-a-versa for various meetings, events, and documents. In recognition of the need for meaningful participation for non- or limited-English-speaking parent(s)/guardian(s) at IEP team meetings, the Special Education Interpreter will provide oral interpretation at IEP team meetings to ensure a high level of service and a clear line of communication between all parties. Overview
Purpose Statement/Position Summary:
The Language and Cultural Specialist II (Spanish Interpreter), under general supervision, provide interpreting services in a culturally sensitive manner to facilitate communication and the relaying of medical information between speakers of different languages at CHLA; and provide written translations as required in patient encounters such as translation of medical instructions and medication schedules, and any hospital related administrative correspondence with patients/families, including information, education and documentation materials. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Complies with applicable office and hospital policies and procedures particularly relating to patient confidentiality and informed consent. Also assists department with on-the-job training and orientation of new staff interpreters.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
* 2+ years' experience interpreting and translating in a healthcare setting, including experience working with the community and/or a target language population with a diversity of cultural/socio-economic backgrounds.
* Competency in written and verbal communication skills in English and the designated foreign language (Spanish).
* Ability to translate and interpret medical terminology.
* Experience interpreting and translating with patients at a full range of developmental and educational levels.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline preferred.
* Completion of a minimum of 40 hour Healthcare Interpreter training.
* For spoken language interpreters: Healthcare Interpreter National Certification or highest national credentialing (where applicable by language) through CCHI or a national organization.

Patient Support Service:
Provide intake and assist in financial screening and Health History intake for limited English proficient patients.
Provide interpretation at various points of patient interaction to support clinic operations such as scheduled patient visits with providers and patients.
Call patients 2 days before their appointment to remind them of their appointment.
Provide either interpretation or instruction at classes for patients on various health topics.
Retrieve telephone messages and contact patients in a timely manner in response to voicemails left by patients.
