What You'll Do:
You will provide professional-level linguistic support across translation, interpretation, transcription, and Gisting including but not limited to:
Translation
Accurately translate materials (both digital and hard copy) from Russian/Ukrainian into English and vice versa.
Capture subtle nuances, cultural references, and abstract concepts with contextual accuracy.
Capture geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural references effectively.
Use terminology and expression consistent with subject matter norms in the target language.
Interpretation
Provide consecutive interpretation; simultaneous interpretation may occasionally be required.
Maintain high fidelity and fluency, demonstrating understanding of regional dialects and cultural context.
Transcription
Listen to audio or review internet-based content and transcribe accurately and efficiently.
Produce high-quality English-language reports based on audio/visual materials.
Demonstrate nuanced understanding of dialectical variations.
Gisting and Summarization
Identify and summarize key facts and abstract concepts accurately.
Prioritize and extract critical information from large datasets.
Use reference materials effectively to support quality output.
What You Bring:
No clearance required to apply.

Bachelor's degree with 8 - 12 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with 6-10 years of related experience. (Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.)
Translation and/or interpretation degree is highly desired
3+ years of professional and recent translation, transcription, and/or interpretation experience.
Must successfully complete a Leidos-administered language proficiency test or equivalent at the Senior level or higher.

GRVTY is seeking a Chinese Linguist possessing language skill with in-depth knowledge of the relevant geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural landscape of the subject geographical language area. A successful candidate must be able to or have working experience in processing and analyzing large amounts of raw information in subject language.
The Chinese Linguist position provides considerable responsibility and autonomy. Translation:
Can accurately translate reports/texts in electronic and hard -copy formats that contain facts and some abstract language showing an ability to capture intended implications and many nuances.

Journeyman Linguist:

Primary Linguist:
Performs full range of activities in processing material or participating in situations requiring a general professional capability (level 3-3+ for translation or interpretation on the ILR scale).
Must be able to translate texts that contain not only facts but also abstract language, and must evidence a fundamental ability to capture their intended implications and many nuances.

Senior Linguist:
Performs full range of activities in processing material or participating in situations requiring an advanced professional capability (level 4-4+ for translation or interpretation on ILR scale).
Must be able to successfully apply a translation methodology to translate a wide variety of complex texts that contain difficult, abstract, idiomatic, highly technical, and colloquial writing.
Active TS/SCI with Poly clearance.
Expert Linguist:
Performs full range of activities in processing material or participating in situations requiring a superior professional capability (level 5 for translation or interpretation on the ILR scale).
Must be able to successfully translate virtually all texts, including those where lack of linguistic and cultural parallelism between the source language and the target language requires precise congruity judgments and the ability to apply a translation methodology.

Selected candidate will use agency guidance and policies to respond to questions concerning the proper and correct usage of names, various Romanization systems, and the treatment of descriptive information on standard products. These services will use the Geographic Names Processing Systems (GNPS), charts, imagery and geospatial tools to refine names information for use in all types of products and to respond to use question via the Ad Hoc Query process. In addition, the candidate will prepare files and maps for work, accurately entering data to maintain and update the GNDB, including batching the completed work into the GNDB. The accuracy and reliability of the selected candidate's work is essential to the missions of these users.

**Key Responsibilities**
+ Provide written translation services for legal documents including letters, reports, website content, posters, brochures, general information documents, correspondence, etc.
+ Preserve the original content, meaning and tone of the document.
+ Translators must accurately depict cultural sensitivity and clarity.
+ Edit and proofread translated documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to legal terminology.
+ Must be able to conduct a Quality edit proof process when assigned for review.
+ Translators are required to follow style guides, glossaries, and our clients' preferences.
+ Ensure confidentiality and security of all translated materials.
+ Stay up to date with legal terminology and industry's best practices.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
**Qualifications - Here's What You Need**
+ High School Diploma or 4 years of experience.
+ Fluency in one of the following languages:
+ Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Somali.
+ Must have one of the following certifications:
+ Legal Translation online certifications.
+ CTP (Certified Translation Professional).
+ ATA (American Translators Association).
+ AOC (Administrative Office of the Court).
+ Membership to NAJIT ( National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators).
+ Experience working in:
+ State Department.
+ Refugees.
+ Court/ Legal setting.
+ Familiarity with Legal Terminology.
+ Experience with Publications.
+ Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
**Minimum Skills Required:**
+ Must possess problem-solving skills.
+ Exceptional written communication skills.
+ Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.
+ Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.

**Working Conditions**

+ This position requires Legal Translation within the Washington State.
+ Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
+ May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
+ May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.

Background and experience:
Work Experience: 1+ years of interpreting experience or a successful internship program required. Experience working in medical, customer service, legal, or educational settings is a plus, depending on the type of assignments we have available.
Certifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Other certificates are a plus, like CMI, CHI, CCHI, 40-hour interpreting course, among others.
Fluency: in both spoken and written English, as well as the language of interpretation, is essential, with a preference for native-level fluency in the language of interpretation. The position requires professional-level interpreting skills and the ability to perform short non-publication translations.
