The primary responsibility of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgical/Medical Clinical Reviewer (MBSCR) is to ensure the accurate and timely collection, documentation, and submission of high-quality data to the American College of Surgeons' Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) registry and/or the Medical Weight Loss (MWL) registry. This includes 100% of bariatric surgical procedures performed at the center, as well as eligible MWL patients enrolled in the program. The MBSCR plays a vital role in supporting quality improvement by working closely with bariatric surgeons, general surgery teams, the Metabolic and Bariatric Program Coordinator, Medical Weight Loss team, and the Quality Department to identify opportunities for clinical excellence and special projects. The MBSCR is granted access to all relevant patient documentation and reporting systems to ensure complete and reliable data collection. This position requires strong collaboration across clinical and administrative teams and contributes directly to advancing patient care and outcomes through data-driven insights. · Identifies, collects, and reports bariatric medical/surgery data accurately and in a timely manner for multiple time intervals over the course of the patient's care through effective utilization of the hospital and surgeons' office record systems. · Works in collaboration with both clinical and administrative staff across the program to ensure accurate data collection and data reporting. Represents the bariatric program at identified meetings to ensure reliable data collection and reporting, including preparing and presenting bariatric data reports · Identifies streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process and quality of patient care. · Establishes effective working relationships with members of the hospital community and surgeon offices, especially staff in the surgery, medicine, nursing, medical records, information systems departments, and others whose support is necessary for the management and success for the program. · Serves as an educational resource on the Bariatric Data Registry Platform for internal and external audiences by developing educational material and delivering presentations. · Actively participates in bariatric data registry activities, including program teleconferences and meetings. Maintains Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) certification on an annual basis, in accordance with MBSAQIP requirements. · Participates in data compilation for research projects, audits, and initial and re-accreditation site visits, and other center of excellence applications (i.e., private payer). Attends Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Committee meetings, minimum 2 per year, as well as professional development seminars/conferences at various annual meetings (e.g., ASMBS, ACS Quality and Safety Summit). · Perform other related duties as required. · Travel required between Manchester, Glastonbury, Enfield, Farmington, West Hartford and Avon offices. Bachelor's Degree required · CT- Registered Nurse (RN) license- preferred Minimum of 2 years medical/surgical hospital or office experience in clinical research/medical records or clinical quality improvement. · Clinical knowledge and understanding of patient care related to data collection and identification of areas for quality improvement.
