What does this position entail?
This role, under general supervision, reviews chemotherapy regimens and orders in accordance to reimbursement guidelines and standard of care adherence. Obtains necessary pre-certifications and exceptions to ensure no delay in reimbursement of treatments. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are:
* Obtains prior authorization for scans, labs, subsequent chemotherapy visits or any other service as required.
* Maintains a professional working relationship with co-workers, insurance companies and referring doctor offices.
* Assists in receiving and reviewing orders from CCK providers to analyze if necessary to, and then when necessary, obtain prior-authorization.
* Receives and reviews clinical documents within the electronic medical record ("EMR") in order to meet requirements for obtaining the authorization.
* Services responsible for obtaining prior authorizations for may include radiology, laboratory, chemotherapy and injections.
* Contacts referring physicians and facilities to obtain referrals for all services scheduled at CCK.
* Provides clinical information to insurance companies and case managers as needed.
* Coordinates peer to peer calls between physicians and insurance companies.
* Assists in maintaining up to date information on insurance requirements for all authorization needs per payer.
* Uploads and attaches authorizations and referrals to the practice management system ("PMS") and EMR as needed.
* Contacts insurance companies through effectively navigating company websites, managed care portals and through methods such as phone and fax in order to complete prior authorization information requests for ordered services.
* Timely and accurate entry of information in the PMS and EMR.
* Follows the status of authorizations and referrals to ensure timely receipt.

* Maintains a good working knowledge of chemotherapy authorization requirements for all payers, State and federal regulatory guidelines for coverage and authorization.

Project Duration: March 2026 to May 2026 (Some may finish earlier based on location and facility availability) Four Days of Paid Training: Virtual timesheet/technology training March 13Virtual classroom training March 16 and 17 (both days) In-person field training March 18-20 (one day)
Post-Training Schedule: Work at facilities Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (varies based on location and facility needs). Hours include time at facilities, paid breaks every 4 hours, and a 30-minute paid lunch for team check-ins and planning. You will also be reimbursed for mileage and drive time. On some days, the total hours worked may exceed 8 hours, when combining drive time and time worked at the facility, and on other days, work hours may not be a full 8-hour shift. Number of days scheduled per week and number of hours worked per week may vary.Regular Travel: Up to 75 miles one-way daily. The driving distance will vary each day.
ResponsibilitiesConduct structured interviews with facility residents using a tablet.Be respectful, punctual, travel to assigned facilities, and work independently while maintaining a professional, neutral approach.Keep organized records of completed interviews and resident participation (e.g., completed interviews, refusals, etc.).Demonstrate interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate skillfully, frequently, and in a timely manner via email, phone, and in-person.Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.Participate in regular quality assurance observations and pass observation interviews, as evaluated by Quality Assurance Mentors.
RequirementsComfortable interacting with older adults and individuals with physical, behavioral, and/or other disabilities.Demonstrate concern and sensitivity to issues of disability, illness, and communication challenges.Strong organization, time management, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and follow structured interview protocols.Tech-savvy - comfortable with email, file uploads, and using a tablet.A private desktop or laptop computer, and printer to be able to print from home, if needed.Reliable vehicle with a valid driver's license and insurance.Adhere to a business casual dress code and other project policies.Attend and pass virtual and in-person training.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in research, interviewing, or fieldwork is a plus.Familiarity with older adults, nursing facilities, long-term care facilities, or adult care settings is preferred.
CompensationHourly Pay: $23.30 per hour for work time (e.g., conducting interviews, etc.) Mileage Reimbursement: $0.50 per mile Drive Time Pay: $7.25 per hour Other reimbursements may apply
Work Environment & Physical DemandsThis role is primarily on-site at nursing homes.Requires routine usage of standard office equipment such as a computer, tablet, phone, and occasionally a home printer. Only the tablet is provided to interviewers by Vital.May involve standing, sitting, walking, and carrying materials for up to eight hours a day. Interviewers must always carry all interview materials on their person.Use repetitive hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms for up to eight hours each day.This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 10 pounds.Individuals are regularly required to talk and hear to approach residents and conduct face-to-face interviews with residents.
