The expected base pay for this role will be between $55,000 and $85,000 per year at the commencement of employment. POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Campus Recreation is seeking Penn State students to work as Intramural Sports officials. This position is responsible for officiating at IM sport competitions within an assigned sport area (ex. basketball, football, soccer, dodgeball, volleyball, softball). Knowledge of the sport, rules of play, and officiating experience are not required but preferred. Training will be provided for each individual sport.
Applicants must be current Penn State-University Park students and available to work nights and some weekends. Successful applicants can choose to work specific sports or work multiple sports and multiple sessions. Positions are available year-round. The Department of Campus Recreation is seeking Penn State students to work as Intramural Sports officials. This position is responsible for officiating at IM sport competitions within an assigned sport area (ex. basketball, football, soccer, dodgeball, volleyball, softball). Essential Functions:
Monitors play to oversee the safety of players and ensure the particular sport's and YMCA rules are followed.
Ensures the gym(s) are ready for games with physical setting and equipment.
Sets up and tears down all equipment needed for play prior to start up time.
Communicates and enforces sports rules effectively while providing leadership during all games according to the YMCA policy.
Maintains cleanliness of the gym area.
Builds relationships with members and program participants.
Ensures safety by communicating and enforcing any rules, policies and guidelines at participants' comprehension level.
Ensures safety by checking for hazardous conditions and making sure all safety equipment is properly placed and in proper working condition.
Follows all sports program rules, dress code, policies and guidelines.
Tracks and posts league standings.
Posts schedules and events promptly prior to the league or event date.
Ensures all sports program information is communicated in writing to the Program Director, Membership Director, and Front Desk Staff in an accurate and timely manner.
Creates new ways to promote sports through new corporate leagues, tournaments, camps, etc.
Creates an atmosphere that is based on fair play and incorporates it in a manner that is both demonstrative and professional.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 15 years of age.
High School diploma preferred.
Six months or more of related officiating experience preferred
