This role focuses on inventory accuracy, documentation audits, data analysis, and loss prevention support. The Inventory Coordinator works in close coordination with Gift Shop and Warehouse Assistant Managers, who are responsible for executing inventory transfers and replenishment. This position helps ensure product availability, operational efficiency, and a positive guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Accuracy and Controls
Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and audits
Research and correct negative on-hand inventory on a weekly basis
Monitor inventory levels and identify discrepancies or risks
Utilize point-of-sale and inventory systems to maintain accurate stock data
Documentation and Compliance
Audit transfer documentation for accuracy and procedural compliance
Audit receiving documentation to confirm proper receiving practices
Maintain organized inventory records in accordance with Garden standards
Inventory Reporting and Analysis
Track inventory data and identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
Prepare weekly and monthly inventory reports for management review
Communicate recurring issues or process gaps to leadership with recommended solutions
Collaboration and Operational Support
Partner with Gift Shop and Warehouse Assistant Managers to support inventory planning and readiness
Communicate inventory concerns that may impact sales floor availability or guest experience
Support inventory preparation for seasonal exhibitions, special events, and peak attendance periods
Loss Prevention Support
Support inventory security best practices to reduce shrink
Conduct focused audits of high-risk or high-value items
Report inventory risks or discrepancies to management promptly
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or higher in business, supply chain management, or a related field preferred
Minimum of two years of inventory management experience, preferably in a retail or hospitality environment
Experience using inventory management and point-of-sale systems required
Familiarity with Google Workspace and Monday.com preferred
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform standing, walking, and warehouse-based tasks for extended periods
Skills and Competencies
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Work Schedule

You'll ensure the efficient execution of all Omni channel processes such as Ship from Store (SFS) operations to ensure consistency with product picking, packaging, & shipping in the Pet Care Center. This role is responsible for a reduction in time spent on SFS operations due to an increased familiarity and process efficiencies. You'll assist in the receiving of merchandise & supplies to and from the store and to ensure that all merchandise & supplies are accurately stocked, and provide guest service, as necessary. This job is composed of a variety of different tasks which may be covered by operational guidelines, and while individual judgment may occasionally be required in order to complete assigned tasks, some questions are directed the Leader on Duty.
Position Responsibilities

* Supports the effective and efficient operations across the Pet Care Center.
* Assist in completion of daily SFS picking, packing, & shipping.
* Assist with the unloading and stocking of merchandise supplies & supplies according to operational guidelines in order to ensure that the Pet Care Center is well stocked, properly set, and that supply counts are accurate.
* Process register transactions in a way that creates a great experience for each guest.
* Be proficient within our selling model and support guest interactions as needed.
* Adhere to and promote established safety procedures.
* Perform routine housekeeping tasks as required to maintain the professional image and appearance of the Pet Care Center, to include sweeping/mopping the floors, dusting, facing the merchandise on the shelves, back room maintenance, etc.
* Participate in the completion of quarterly and annual physical inventory counts.
* Complete Omni Channel and SFS projects following policies & procedure; cleaning, planogram sets, proper labeling, signage & fixture needs of project, disposal of RTV items, appropriate hazardous waste storage and clean up.
* Analyze on-site/actual conditions in comparison to written plan, identify necessary corrections and recommend alterations as necessary and troubleshoot resolution.
* Coordination with Pet Care Center/Field partners to ensure actual fixturing, floor plan setup, stocking and SFS equipment is completed according to plan and if changes are made that they are properly communicated.
* Communicate with the Pet Care Center Leaders upon completion of day on any remaining unfinished orders, SFS WIMR screen correction information for the Pet Care Center to complete at end of day.
* Special Projects as needed.

Education and Experience
* Minimum high school diploma (its equivalency i.e. GED) or the equivalent work experience.

Work Environment
This role is expected to provide support during key operational hours, with weekend availability. The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although merchandise receiving, merchandise carry-outs, or stock balancing will require leaving the store briefly. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from failure to follow safety precautions and procedures.
Contacts
This position has continuous contact with the public at the Pet Care Center and at Pet Care Center -related events, and regular contact and exchange of information with other departments in the field, Distribution Centers, and at the Support Centers. Contact outside of PETCO may be required to coordinate merchandise returns, ordering parts, Pet Care Center repairs, coordination of vaccination clinics, Pet Care Center events, vendor meetings, etc.
