How You'll Make An Impact Work closely with the Principal Investigator to oversee the execution of study protocols, delegating study related duties to site staff, as appropriate, and ensuring site compliance with study protocols, study-specific laboratory procedures, standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality (QA/QC) procedures, OSHA guidelines, and other state and local regulations as applicable. Obtain informed consent per SOP. Administer delegated study questionnaires, as appropriate. Collect and evaluate medical records. Complete visit procedures and ensure proper specimen collection, processing, and shipment in accordance with protocol. Train others and complete basic clinical procedures, such as blood draws, vital signs, ECGs, etc. Review screening documentation and approves subjects for admission to study. Review admission documentation and approves subject for randomization. Provide ongoing assessment of the study subject/patient to identify Adverse Events. Ensure that serious and unexpected adverse events are reported promptly to the Pl. Review and evaluates all study data and comments to the clinical significance of any out-of-range results. Perform physical examinations as part of screening evaluation and active study conduct. Provide medical management of adverse events as appropriate. Dispense study medication per protocol and/or IVRS systems. Educate patient on proper administration and importance of compliance. Monitor patient progress on study medication. Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Postdoctoral Investigator to join the Physical Oceanography Department. This is a temporary, full-time, exempt position, and is eligible for full benefits. As PDI, Theo will continue his research on Indo-Pacific climate variability, with a particular focus on low-frequency changes in the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool and implications for climate variability in the adjacent regions, including key regional features such as the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and monsoon systems in the western Pacific. This is part of a collaborative NSF P4CLIMATE grant and involves interactions with other project members at collaborating institutions engaged in generating new proxy records of regional hydroclimate in the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool and adjacent land regions. Theo will be building on his prior research and diagnostics developed during his PhD in the Community Earth System Model (CESM) Large Ensembles, applying this to the Last Millennium Ensemble covering 850-2005 CE. Theo will also be engaged in mentoring visiting undergraduate students on their research projects on variability in the Austral-Asian monsoon over the last millennium, helping them develop new skill in data analysis and visualization using python. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Investigator (PDI) in observational physical oceanography under the supervision of Dr. Isabela Le Bras. The study region is the subpolar North Atlantic, a globally significant gateway for carbon dioxide and oxygen into the deep ocean. The project targets a detailed understanding of these ventilation pathways, which are not well-reproduced in climate models. The postdoc would be joining an interdisciplinary group across multiple institutions funded by NSF to analyze an unprecedented six-year moored oxygen time series on the Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic Program (OSNAP, o-snap.org) across the Labrador and Irminger Seas. The co-PIs of the project, which is known as Gases in the Overturning and Horizontal circulation of the Subpolar North Atlantic Program (GOHSNAP), are Dr. Jaime Palter (University of Rhode Island), Dr. Hilary Palevsky (Boston College), Dr. Dariia Atamanchuk (Dalhousie University), and Dr. Roo Nicholson (WHOI). We all meet monthly and collaborate closely. The specific goals of GOHSNAP are to (1) probe the coupling between overturning, deep water formation, and ventilation, (2) better quantify the contribution of air-sea exchange over boundary currents to ventilation and (3) investigate overflow water transformation through the lens of ventilation processes.
