Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Postdoctoral Investigator to join the Physical Oceanography Department. This is a temporary, full-time, exempt position, and is eligible for full benefits. As PDI, Theo will continue his research on Indo-Pacific climate variability, with a particular focus on low-frequency changes in the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool and implications for climate variability in the adjacent regions, including key regional features such as the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and monsoon systems in the western Pacific. This is part of a collaborative NSF P4CLIMATE grant and involves interactions with other project members at collaborating institutions engaged in generating new proxy records of regional hydroclimate in the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool and adjacent land regions. Theo will be building on his prior research and diagnostics developed during his PhD in the Community Earth System Model (CESM) Large Ensembles, applying this to the Last Millennium Ensemble covering 850-2005 CE. Theo will also be engaged in mentoring visiting undergraduate students on their research projects on variability in the Austral-Asian monsoon over the last millennium, helping them develop new skill in data analysis and visualization using python.
