The Investment Manager works with the HSBC Invests as one of the key pillars of HSBC's global innovation strategy within the HSBC Ventures team, focused, accelerating innovation at HSBC through minority equity investments in emerging companies relevant to Financial Services.
Here's what you can expect as the US based Investment Manager:

Support to senior investment professionals and ability to independently manage all aspects of the investment process (origination, due diligence, execution, etc.) with a primary focus on the origination and execution of investment opportunities. Support and ability to independently manage portfolio companies through the investment life cycle (valuations, internal connectivity, exit process, etc.) Support the team in achieving key strategic goals and managing of internal and external stakeholders as appropriate, including representing the team at internal and external events. Responsibility for consistent quality of valuation methodologies and due diligence of potential investments



Requirements


Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within multiple disciplines, senior level knowledge with Venture Capital, Startup and technology industries Understanding of financial markets, key trend along with experience in research, analysis, financial modeling and company valuations. You'll have sound professional communication skills with professionalism to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group (including internal and external stakeholders, executive, industry leaders and within your own team and business). Have prior experience leading the investment execution process, including negotiation of terms, due diligence and approvals. Ability to work under pressure and prioritize work across multiple projects concurrently

Based in the Charlotte NC area, the Manager of Investment Operations is a part of the Novant Asset Management Company's Investment Operations Team and supports efforts related to the overall operational management of the Investment Pool.

Responsibilities will include managing a small team whose duties include custodial relationships, internal reporting, transaction processing, timely payment of expenses, modeling of cash flows, budgeting, audit, compliance, investment performance analysis, and analytics development to support the investment decision making process.

The Manager will also be responsible for initial and ongoing operational due diligence as related to the Investment Pool's service providers (i.e. custodian, investment managers, consultants, etc.) and to develop policies and procedures.

In addition, the Manager will manage relationships with non-investment related service providers to the Investment Pool including legal, tax, compliance, banking, and other consulting partners.

The Manager should enjoy working in a collaborative environment, is organized, can work self-directed, and has a desire to learn about public investment characteristics and modeling approaches.

Qualifications
Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics or other related fields will be strongly considered. Graduate Degree, preferred. Experience: Minimum five years of relevant experience in an endowment, foundation, pension, fund-of-funds, Custodian or asset management company setting, required. 10+ years experience of involvement evaluating portfolio risks and exposures, preferred. Licensure/Certification: CPA, CFA / CAIA / FRM, preferred. Additional Skills (required): Excellent communication and presentation skills with a strong understanding of the financial markets and the investment environment Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate and thrive in a team setting Proficiency in support infrastructure such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Burgiss Private i, custodian systems, etc.

The Opportunity

The IR Manager will have an essential role in managing and contributing to the Investor Relations (IR) function. You will be responsible for partnering with the Vice President of IR and members of the leadership team to develop and execute IR strategy and plans. This role creates impact by contributing to and driving initiatives that will help Denali build and maintain a long-term shareholder base that supports our continued growth. The successful applicant will have a keen interest in the financial markets, an analytical mind, and enjoys doing related research and summarizing key findings to inform IR strategy. Excellent project management skills to ensure timely execution of IR activities are a must.

Key Responsibilities

Project manage IR goals Develop agendas, manage meeting flow, summarize and follow-up on actions to ensure timely execution of Investor Relations activities Assist in preparing investor communication materials, including slide decks Prepare and maintain internal IR resources including Q&As and briefing books Maintain investor database, conduct investor targeting analyses, prepare reports Monitor and track relevant industry news, stock analyst reports, and investors in our space Help organize, plan, and attend, as needed, road shows, in-house meetings, investor conferences, 1x1 meetings, topical webinars, and analyst days Plan and coordinate shareholder and sell-side analyst outreach Assist in preparing business sections of quarterly earnings releases and 10-Q/10-K filings



Requirements


BA/BS 4 - 5 years of experience in investor relations, banking, equity research (buy-side or sell-side), project management or a related field Industry experience in Pharma, Biotech, Life Sciences is a plus Strong collaboration and influencing skills Strategic thinking combined with excellence in execution Excellent verbal and written communication skills Data and analytics fluency
