Investopedia company history timeline

1999

Investopedia was founded in 1999 by Cory Wagner and Cory Janssen in Edmonton, Alberta.

2006

Michael made the move to the financial world in 2006 when he joined Bloomberg, where he spent more than seven years directing digital sales, first on the West Coast and then in the Northeast.

2007

In April 2007, Forbes Media acquired Investopedia.com for an undisclosed amount.

2010

In August 2010, Forbes sold Investopedia to ValueClick for $42 million.

2013

In 2013, ValueClick sold Investopedia and a group of other properties to IAC for $80 million.

2014

Julia is Senior Editor of Personal Finance at Investopedia and has been with the company since 2014.

2016

Caleb has been the Editor-in-Chief of Investopedia since 2016.

2017

Chris joined the Investopedia team in 2017.

2018

In July 2018, Investopedia joined the Dotdash family of brands and laid off 1/3 of its staff, or 36 people.

2019

Keith has been with Dotdash since 2019.

In early 2019, the site announced the winners of its inaugural online broker and robo-advisor awards.

2020

The site launched its first podcast, The Investopedia Express, hosted by Silver, in September 2020.
