Provides and uses radiation protection devices and techniques in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Displays working knowledge of job requirements. * All images are properly identified with patient I.D., side markers, and tech initials. Patients and others are not subjected to unneeded amounts of radiation. No accidents occur to patients, personnel, or equipment as a result of regulation or policy violations. Patient injuries are reported immediately per hospital policy. * Maintains radiographic quality. Positioning of patient and equipment and technique manipulation are accurate. Errors are rare, tasks are completed promptly. * Correctly documents required information in the computerized information system (RIS). Exams are completed in a timely fashion. Exams performed are recorded. Records are complete, accurate, and up-to-date; no filing errors are made. Displays team attitude in assisting secretarial staff. * Assists radiologists and/or physicians in specific procedures, patient care, and other duties as required. Assists radiologists and/or physicians in the administration of contrast media and other medications as required. Willingly and cheerfully assists others as needed; misadministration of drugs and contrasts do not occur. * Directs patient flow as to specific room and time. Patients are not delayed unnecessarily for radiology services and do not wait longer than 15 minutes without explanation of delays. Qualifications Licensure/Certification: * Holds Permit-to-Practice radiology in the state of Iowa. * Certified and holds current registration with the A.R.R.T. as a Radiologic Technologist. * Includes those currently pursuing registration in Mammography, CT, or MRI. If pursuing the Mammography, CT, or MRI tract, the technologist is required to successfully obtain their modality A.R.R.T. board examination within 18 months of completion of the orientation program.

Is proficient in Breast Imaging. Provides and uses radiation protection devices and techniques in accordance with prescribed safety standards. * All images are properly identified with patient I.D., side markers, and tech initials. Patients and others are not subjected to unneeded amounts of radiation. No accidents occur to patients, personnel, or equipment as a result of regulation or policy violations. Patient injuries are reported immediately per hospital policy. * Maintains radiographic quality. Positioning of patient and equipment and technique manipulation are accurate. Errors are rare, tasks are completed promptly. * Correctly documents required information in the computerized information system (RIS). Exams are completed in a timely fashion. Exams performed are recorded. Records are complete, accurate, and up-to-date; no filing errors are made. Displays team attitude in assisting secretarial staff. * Remains current in knowledge of breast imaging and participates in one professional/ technical meeting in breast imaging annually. * Assists radiologists and/or physicians in specific procedures, patient care, and other duties as required. Assists radiologists and/or physicians in the administration of contrast media and other medications as required. Willingly and cheerfully assists others as needed; misadministration of drugs and contrasts do not occur. * Applies knowledge of operation and use of diagnostic x-ray and mammography machines, processors, and other required equipment and maintains safety. * Tests conducted using equipment are done correctly and produce accurate results; optimum processing is maintained at all times; malfunctions are reported immediately. * Performs appropriate quantity of work. Consistently productive and volunteers to take on additional work when finished with assigned tasks. Rotates shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by the department. * Directs patient flow as to specific room and time. Patients are not delayed unnecessarily for mammography services and do not wait longer than 15 minutes without explanation of delays. * Cleans departmental equipment and instruments. Equipment is clean, orderly, and ready for use; all safety/health regulations and procedures are met. Qualifications Licensure/Certification: * Certified and holds current registration with the A.R.R.T. as a Radiologic Technologist * Certified and holds current A.R.R.T. registration in Mammography * Holds Permit-to-Practice radiology in the state of Iowa

Performs procedural exams within specified turnaround time for assigned area and assures procedural exam guidelines are strictly adhered to, complies with exam procedure technical factors and protocols in consultation with radiologist. Support and perform CT exams within guidelines of the Imaging Gently Campaign. Administers contrast agents according to procedure guidelines and states correct flow rates utilizing power injector. Documents all necessary information in the performance of technical procedures, including adequate history and quality control. Consistently demonstrates attention to detail in following protocol for patient identification, patient history, exam, image marking, and labeling. Documents pregnancy appropriately for females of child bearing age. Uses AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You) with every patient interaction to create patient and family experiences consistent with the mission of St. Luke's Hospital. Perform patient transfers with approved transfer mobility equipment when appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. Regulatory Compliance Maintains compliance and is responsible for executing and monitoring technical practices to meet necessary standards, recommendations, and requirements of voluntary and government agencies (i.e., IDPH, ACR, TJC). Understands and adheres to all safety practices (ALARA) while performing duties to minimize any risk of injury and/or exposure to unnecessary ionizing radiation. Wears an issued radiation badge for monitoring occupational exposure to ionizing radiation. Possesses ability and makes good independent decisions based upon knowledge of the overall departmental functions, policies and procedures. Departmental Support Promotes the development, preparation, implementation and attainment of departmental goals, policies and projects. Maintains an adequate level of productivity. Communicates with the department Managers as necessary when problems or unusual circumstances arise and documents as necessary. Prioritizes work appropriately and assists others as time and workload allows. Communicates effectively inter- and intra-departmentally with other healthcare professionals and customers to provide accurate, timely information and to reduce problems and minimize exceptions Maintains cleanliness of equipment and workspace and reports equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
