Position Summary: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible and accountable for all functions of the sterile processing department, under the guidance of the sterile processing department supervisors and manager. This position is responsible for working independently and with team members to ensure that all surgical instrumentation are properly decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, high level disinfected, marked for repair and placed in a proper repair location, and communicate incomplete trays and missing items to management and OR immediately. All instruments must be distributed, tracked and stored in a safe, secure, aseptic and timely manner throughout the hospital and clinics. Immediate-use steam sterilization, tray turnovers between surgical cases and releasing sterilized loads from the department must be performed observing standard practice. Each team member will be qualified to train others as assigned and serve as a front-line resource to sterile processing customers. The Sterile Processing Tech I is responsible for the building and coordination of instruments and case carts between the Operating Room, Ancillary departments and Sterile Processing. Coordinates case carts, add-ons and will serve as a contact person in Sterile Processing for each service in the Operating Room. Will have direct contact with physicians, nurses, and scrub techs. Will clean, decontaminate, prepare, assemble, and sterilize surgical instrumentation and related equipment used by surgical services and other clinical departments. The Sterile Processing Tech I is responsible for the building and coordination of instruments and case carts between the Operating Room, Ancillary departments and Sterile Processing. Coordinates case carts, add-ons and will serve as a contact person in Sterile Processing for each service in the Operating Room. Will have direct contact with physicians, nurses, and scrub techs. Will clean, decontaminate, prepare, assemble, and sterilize surgical instrumentation and related equipment used by surgical services and other clinical departments. The Orthopedic & Sports Institute is seeking a full time Sterile Processing Technician that is flexible with start and end times for 4 days a week. The hours for this position will range between 6:00 am - 8:30 pm Monday - Thursday. Flexibility is needed to accommodate the needs of the surgery schedule so the hours will be 32-40 hours per week depending on surgery schedule. Responsibilities: Sterile processing tech ensures cleanliness, disinfection, and distribution of sterile supplies and instruments for use in the care and treatment of patients. Helps maintain the sterilizing equipment and supplies for the department. Complies with and implements required safety and OSHA precautions for sterile processing techs.
