The home college for the position is the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
The individual in this position is expected to develop a nationally recognized extension and research program in the economics of cooperatives and agricultural supply chains and will hold the Iowa Institute for Cooperatives Endowed Economics Professorship. The extension program will be expected to address critical agricultural issues relevant to the cooperative system at the state, regional, and national level, including the development of leadership, strategic planning, and financial competency skills in cooperative and agribusiness leaders. The individual will maintain one or more active projects under the auspices of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station.
The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate across departments, extension units, and university centers. The research and teaching activities are envisioned to be synergistic with the extension activities. A natural outcome of these activities will be applied extension materials targeting producers, agribusiness professionals, and other relevant groups; original research in agricultural economics leading to publications in appropriate refereed journals and other professional outlets; and presentations at professional conferences. The successful candidate will be expected to generate extramural funds to support extension and research activities. Opportunities will exist to direct graduate student research and serve on graduate academic plan committees. The candidate will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The teaching assignment is expected to be approximately one course per year on average.

Mission Cancer & Blood, part of University of Iowa Healthcare is searching for Chemotherapy Staff Nurse to administer chemotherapeutic/biologic agents as well as participating in patient and family teaching regarding chemotherapeutic side effects and oncology disease process. Provides outpatient care to the oncology patient and collaborates with the physician as well as other team members to implement quality care. Will spend a majority of the time with the Infusion Team.
Position Responsibilities:
* Provide direct nursing care for patients primarily in the administration of chemotherapy and related oncologic therapies.
* Educate patients and families regarding the side effects of chemotherapy/biotherapy and the oncology disease process.
* Act as a resource for patients, families and other health professionals.
* Coordinate chemotherapy orders with physicians and physician's nurses.
* Mix and administer chemotherapy, hydration and other medications as ordered.
* Document nursing assessments, patient instruction, fluid and medication administration.
* Perform venipunctures, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheters.
* Maintain knowledge of reimbursement procedures and accurately document chemotherapy charges.
* Monitor patient's clinical treatment by performing nursing assessments and providing appropriate and timely interventions.
* Follow established policies, procedures and objectives including safety, environmental and/or infection control standards.
* Communicate and coordinate with outside agencies, staff and patients to ensure a continuum of care.
* Properly evaluate laboratory findings.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Salary: $60,000 (at 100% effort) to commensurate *this does not include inpatient or shift differential
Sign On Incentive Details:
* Eligibility: Hired as regular, non-temporary employee in Staff Nurse (PD20) classification
Must not have been employed by UI Health Care in a similar position within 12 months
* Payment amount:
* Staff nurse with 0 - 4 years' experience as a registered nurse: $5,000 issued on the first of the month upon successful completion of 60 days of employment
* Staff nurse with 5 or more years' experience as a registered nurse: $7,500 issued on the first of the month upon successful completion of 60 days of employment
* Staff nurse with 10 or more years' experience as a registered nurse: $10,000 issued on the first of the month upon successful completion of 60 days of employment
* Commitment: Two years of employment in a Staff Nurse position within UI Health Care
* Repayment: Prorated amount of the sign-on payment if individual leaves before end of two-year commitment

Education Required
* An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
Experience Required:
* Minimum of two (2) years' experience in oncology nursing, including chemotherapy administration
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
* Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
* General computer skills are required
* Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
* Current BCLS
* Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality policy and procedures
Desirable Qualifications:
* Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing is highly desired
* If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
* Knowledge of company and university policies and procedures
* Oncology Nursing Certification is desirable
* Knowledge of CT Scans, X-rays, and other tests as deemed necessary
* Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment
