* This is not an entry-level position. We expect candidates to have some professional experience writing software. Seasoned developers will flourish with our balance of independence and support, while entry-level developers would not get the direct oversight they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
There are three parts to this job: reporting, advising, and systems building.
* Reporting & Analysis:
* Analyze clients' and prospective clients' websites to identify SEO weaknesses and opportunities.
* Perform detailed keyword research, competitive analysis, and technical audits to guide optimization strategies.
* Prioritize and recommend updates to client sites based on ROI potential and strategic value.
* Regularly monitor and report on site performance using tools such as (but not limited to) Google Analytics and Google Lighthouse.
* Deliver clear, actionable insights to clients and internal teams, backed by data and analysis.
* Advising & Collaboration:
* Partner with other departments to support sales pitches, planning for new websites, and updates to existing websites.
* Educate and guide developers and designers on SEO best practices and the latest search engine algorithm and policy changes.
* Serve as a trusted SEO expert, advising both internal teams and clients on how to align SEO strategies with broader business goals.
* Stay informed on industry trends and communicate relevant updates and their potential impact on client strategies, especially on AI's role in shaping the industry.
* Practice Development & Systematizing:
* Build and scale Alley's SEO practice by creating repeatable, efficient, and sustainable processes.
* Develop and maintain documentation, frameworks, and playbooks for SEO best practices and workflows.
* Identify and implement tools, including LLMs, to support and streamline SEO efforts across teams.
* Establish quality control measures to ensure consistency and effectiveness in our SEO practice across all client work.
* Lay the groundwork to support future growth in SEO and adjacent services such as analytics and testing.
By mastering these areas, you'll play a pivotal role in making Alley's SEO service a trusted and indispensable offering, driving meaningful results for our clients. As the practice expands, so too will your opportunities, eventually leading to hiring and management.
Qualifications
* 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience, with a proven record of driving measurable results.
* Proficiency with SEO tools such as Google Analytics/GA4, Google Search Console, Lighthouse/CWV, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog SEO Spider, and others.
* Strong understanding of website architecture, semantic HTML, and content management systems (especially WordPress).
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
* Outstanding communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas to clients and stakeholders.
* Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building something new and driving growth.
* Leadership experience is a plus but not required-what matters most is your drive to lead and grow this practice area.
* Located within the USA or Canada.

In a Typical Day, you will:
• Diagnose and remediate issues with Windows Server Infrastructure, and related roles and features, as well as other Microsoft and third-party Windows business infrastructure applications, while identifying recurring issues which can be remediated through automation

• Comprehensive understanding of PowerShell Scripting and automation practices.

Advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies including; VMware, HyperV and Citrix. (Must be strong in VMware and other virtualization technologies)
• Document Standard Operating Procedures for troubleshooting.
• Identify and develop monitoring checks needed to ensure the stability of client infrastructure.
• 5+ years' experience managing an Enterprise infrastructure.
Additional Information
Rock star (Preferred) Qualifications in addition to those required:
• Knowledge of Cross platform technologies such as Unix, Storage, Networking.
• Ability to develop in Java, JavaScript, Perl or .Net.
• Familiarity with RegEx.
• Degree in computer systems or computer science preferred.
