What You'll Need to Succeed:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or related field
10+ years of relevant experience in software development, system engineering and software verification/validation
5+ years of previous management/leadership experience
Demonstrated 4+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably for microcontrollers
Proven experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems with solid understanding of communication protocols such as UART, SPI, and I2C
Experience with agile development framework and practices

Your impact

Intelsat is currently acquiring its next generation of telecommunication satellite called Software Defined Satellite (SDS). This new type of satellites allow flexibility both in frequency allocation and coverage definition. Intelsat is in the process of developing transmission engineering tools to model the new payload of the SDS satellites. This internship will support the development of these analytical tools, the testing and validation of the new models and the processing of the data needed for the tools.

Join the Data & Analytics team where you will focus on building complex solutions to process terabytes of data sourced from 50+ systems. You will be part of the team focused on empowering data-driven decision-making throughout the organization. If you are a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Engineer who is passionate about data, we want to hear from you.
In this role, you will join a dynamic team to design and develop scalable data pipelines and solutions within Snowflake and Oracle environments, leveraging Snow SQL, PL/SQL, DBT, and Python. You will lead development efforts, engaging with internal users and contractors, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as business analysts, data scientists, and Business Intelligence developers.
What you will do
Design and develop innovative solutions using your experience with Data Warehouse architecture and Business Intelligence tools.
Develop and maintain data ingestions / ETL processes to extract data from various sources using Snow SQL, Python, DBT, SQL, PL/SQL.
Lead contractors and provide technical guidance to junior developers.
Resolve technical issues, monitor progress against schedules; and produce appropriate support documentation for new or changed solutions.
Collaborate with Business Analysist and users to understand business rules, capture requirements, and develop user stories.
Transform and cleanse data to ensure high quality and consistency of the metrics.
Build Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on specific business applications, including a deep understanding of the data.
Participate in Sprint planning, daily standups, peer reviews, and retrospective meetings.
Engage in requirements analysis, architectural and detail design reviews. Expand your knowledge of development languages, IDEs, and methodologies to enhance the extensive collection of SQL code and reports used at Intelsat.
Your required experience/skills
Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems or Computer Science
At least 10 years of experience working as the developer in IT field.
At least 6 years of professional experience working with Data Warehouse or Data Marts
Proficient with:
Relational data model
Data Warehouse architecture
Data Transformation
Data Modeling
ETL processes
SQL queries
PL/SQL development
Python development
Ability to work independently; reverse engineer code and make modifications.
Experience with designing and managing Star schema, slowly changing conformed dimensions.
Ability to express ideas clearly both in written and oral communications.
Strong ability to learn new technologies and document ways to implement.
Understanding of the full lifecycle development process, including understanding business and functional requirements
Strong organizational skills with a willingness to work with others to foster a team spirit
Proven track record on delivery.
Your success in this role will look like:
Collaborating effectively with the Business Intelligence, Analytics and other Solution Engineering team members
Effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Work independently with the stakeholders to learn complex business rules and mathematical computation.
Ability to analyze complex situations, identify root causes of issues, and develop effective solutions.
Demonstrating a dedication to staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in the data engineering field.
It would be nice if you had:
Database design and Data Governance experience
Knowledge of Snowflake, live data streaming, Power BI, Grafana
Geojson data mapping on Power BI or Tableau
Understanding of and experience with:
Kafka, API
Data testing
Understanding of Oracle ERP, ServiceNow and Salesfore data models and principles
Experience working in Telecommunication Industry
Understanding of Network Management System (Gilat)
A broad knowledge of telecommunication systems
