Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time 40 hr per week position which regularly requires flexible hours and frequent weekend work.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.

AAA Landscape irrigation technician job description

Job DescriptionSalary: 18-22 an hour

OVERVIEW: Irrigation Technicians assemble, install, and maintain commercial landscape irrigation pipes and systems. Duties include, but are not limited to handling the materials for irrigation, troubleshooting irrigation systems and programming controllers. When not working with irrigation, Irrigation Technicians assist the crew in all aspects of landscape labor, including planting, pruning, and maintenance. They must know how to efficiently work with his/her hands and with tools such as shovels, rakes, and general landscape hand tools, plus assist in keeping sites clear and clean, weeding, edging, mowing, blowing and trimming, and perform a variety of other functions when requested.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Experience: Ability to perform all competencies of Irrigation Helper.


Language skills: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.


Math skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately.


Physical requirements: Ability to lift, pull and push up to 50 lbs., carry materials, bend, twist, kneel, climb, and balance. Ability to work in a kneeling position for extended periods of time. Ability to work in the rain and in extreme temperatures. Ability to withstand dust, pollens and gas fumes on a daily basis.


Other: Although typical workdays are Mon-Fri, they must be able to work the occasional weekend.


Driving: Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, Valid Arizona Driver’s License


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


Irrigation Technicians work principally outdoors and may work above ground, sub-surface or under/in water. A certain amount of strength, dexterity, and alertness is necessary due to proximity to equipment, tools, and other trades. We are currently looking to add a Golf Course Irrigation Technician to our Course & Grounds team.
Must be able to operate, maintain and repair irrigation of the following components and systems:
Main lines and lateral distribution piping Valves - isolation and electrical Sprinklers - block array, the valve in head and residential/commercial Computer controller and stand-alone controllers Electrical systems - supply and distribution wires Valve boxes - various sizes


Must maintain all drainage components:
Cath basins - plastic and concrete Sock drains Bunker drains


Must be able to operate heavy machinery:

Must be familiar with all repair components:
