Ithaca College company history timeline

1910

On November 1, 1910, the directors authorized taking out a mortgage of $11,400 to purchase Judge Douglass Boardman's handsome Italianate townhouse at 120 East Buffalo Street, adjoining DeWitt Park.

1923

1924

As Williams succeeded Egbert to the presidency in 1924, he had more on his mind than music: he also had a head for business.

1931

In 1931 the conservatory was chartered as a private college.

1959

Tired of battling censors, Serling abandoned writing realistic scripts in order to write, produce, and narrate the science-fiction anthology series The Twilight Zone, which became known for its unexpected plot twists and moral lessons; for this he won a third writing Emmy, in 1959.

1960

Of particular importance to the College is the transition from the downtown campus to the new campus and recognition that this campus has grown and changed and been transformed since 1960.

2008

Collado succeeded Thomas Rochon, who was named eighth president of Ithaca College on April 11, 2008.

2015

During the fall 2015 semester, multiple protests focusing on campus climate and Rochon's leadership were led by students and faculty.

2017

Rochon retired on July 1, 2017.

2020

In October 2020, the college announced that 130 out of 547 faculty positions would be cut due to a need to cut $30 million from the school's budget.

2021

Collado announced in July 2021 that she will step down in January to become president and CEO of College Track.
