2002

2002 Offmyserver, a web-hosting services company, acquires iXsystems and all its assets.

2003

2003 Matt Olander appears repeatedly on TechTV's popular ScreenSaver program promoting FreeBSD. Segments included "Building a Beowolf Cluster" and "FreeBSD vs Linux".

2004

2004 OffMyServer donates Intel blade server to DragonFly BSD in an effort to sponsor development.

2005

2005 OffMyServer hosts a rack of servers for the FreeBSD Project.

2006

2006 iXsystems acquires the PC-BSD operating system and appoints its creator, Kris Moore, as Director of PC-BSD Software Development. iXsystems now sponsors the development of this desktop operating system and promotes it alongside FreeBSD.

In 2006, iXsystems adopted the PC-BSD project and hired its founder, Kris Moore.

2007

In 2007, iXsystems acquired FreeBSD Mall, Inc., reuniting all the portions of the original BSDi that had been spun off to Wind River Systems.

2008

2008 iXsystems announces professional FreeBSD and PC-BSD support.

2009

2009 In December, iXsystems takes over the development of the FreeNAS Project.

2010

iXsystems receives Best Use of Intel Channel Partner Benefits Award for 2010.

2012

2012 iXsystems hosts MeetBSD California 2012 at Yahoo! campus. iXsystems updates FreeNAS to version 8.3, bringing in a plugin system based on PC-BSD ® PBIs and ZFSv28.

2013

In honor of its users, administrators, developers, and advocates, the FreeBSD 20th Anniversary Celebration was held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco!

2014

The all-flash version of TrueNAS, the Z50 TrueFlash™, was released at VMworld 2014.

2017 FreeNAS 11.1-RELEASE brings virtualization and cloud storage technology to the masses.

2018

2018 April 2018 - iXsystems introduces the TrueNAS® M-Series, the next generation of enterprise storage appliances based on Open Source and built from a modern architecture to support multiple classes of persistent memory.

August 2018 - iXsystems and Asigra enter into a partnership to offer TrueNAS systems with Asigra Backup as a turnkey appliance to protect against data loss, corruption, and ransomware.

December 2018 - FreeNAS 11.2 includes a mobile-friendly Angular web interface, improved iocage plugin system, real-time APIv2, and synchronization with many more cloud storage providers.
