Learn to utilize personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and/or employees including the training and assistance with internal and third party (customer) systems
Become proficient in maximizing efficiency of fleet operations and profitability and making recommendations for continuous improvement, measuring key performance indicators, and creating, maintaining and presenting customer specific reporting and financial analysis through face-to-face interactions at customer location
Gain knowledge on how to manage inventory, assets, customer pools and/or assignment of drivers to balance equipment in market
Learn to perform administrative duties such as payroll, management of the Net-Revenue budget, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing and documenting, resolving pay issues, analyzing P&L statements, invoicing and/or creating operational or financial reports
Learn to manage yard including checking/inspecting equipment, replacing parts (like mud flaps), completing repairs, etc., and coordinating with maintenance to ensure all regular preventative maintenance services are scheduled on time and all safety related mechanical issues are fixed for account equipment (as required)
Learn to work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing and/or planning, mechanical problems, accessorial pay related issues, etc., as they occur throughout the day and, where necessary, when on call
Learn to maintain the Company's safety culture to include daily driver safety messages, monthly driver safety briefings, quarterly driver training, annual reviews, and enforce company policies to ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements are being met
Learn to assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements, including managing freight exceptions and driver ETA adjustments based on pick-up and delivery schedules, and other environmental factors on the road
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification:
High School Diploma/GED with up to 4 years of equivalent education, experience, and training AND/currently enrolled and working towards degree program(s) with up to 2 years or equivalent education, experience, and training AND/OR Bachelor's degree with ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed. Must be willing to travel to account, customer, & company event locations when applicable.

This position reports to the Continuous Improvement Group Director, and partners closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, IT, Data & Analytics, and Ryder's shop network to deliver measurable improvements that advance Ryder's position as the industry leader in fleet performance and reliability.
Essential Functions
+ Manage large, cross-functional projects as specified by FMS initiatives that support division and corporate objectives through Project Management, CI Event Management, Change Management and other best practices.
+ Support proofs-of-concepts (POC's) to enact new processes, tools, and technologies in Ryder Maintenance locations. Provide Project Management standards and artifacts, liaise between stakeholders, ensure scope, measurement, documentation, communication/training, and feedback forums.
+ Facilitate brainstorming/ideation events, Value Stream process mapping events, and Kaizen/improvement events to discover improvement opportunities as precursors to projects; perform pre-work, manage teams, direct event flow and closure summary and report outs, and follow-up through measurement tracking.
+ Participate in IT-related activities across the scope of assigned projects and POC's; analyze business processes in tandem with IT, prepare detailed business requirements and documentation, generate and/or review user acceptance criteria, participate in user acceptance testing, assist with change management and training documentation.
+ Support the FMS Transformation Office across the scope of assigned projects and POC's; executive report out materials and cadence. Manage the preparation and dissemination of quality management data analysis or reports across the scope of assigned projects for use by Maintenance Operations and assist management in their interpretation and application to improve performance.

Key Responsibilities:
With guidance, perform basic preventive maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake adjustments/services/replacements, electrical diagnostics, basic structural repairs on trailer chassis, sub-frames, etc.
Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard
Operate assigned service truck in a professional manner and according to company requirements; keep unit clean and well stocked
Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
Properly document damage to company equipment to allow subrogation of repair costs
Understand and demonstrate the basic use of a cutting torch and welding equipment; perform minor repairs on chassis, frames, brackets, etc
Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs ensuring all holes are sealed and water tight
Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections under supervision of a certified technician as required
Shift Schedule: Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs.
