Qualifications: Applicants should be within 30 - 40 credits from a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (Or have a bachelor's degree, working towards an Accounting or Finance degree with significant coursework in Accounting and Finance already completed). They should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and thrive while meeting challenging deadlines. Strong candidates will be detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and be committed to exceptional client service while possessing excellent written and oral communication skills.

Role overview: Accountants are responsible for delivering value and accounting services to clients from Propeller's portfolio of fast-growing consumer brand, technology and food & beverage companies. The role offers growth and exposure across several industries. Accountants collaborate and are supported by our Accounting and Finance Directors, as well as others at Propeller, to manage client relationships, oversee the preparation of monthly financial reporting, and develop and implement accounting policies, procedures and controls for our clients.
Responsibilities:
Accounting & Reporting
Lead month-end close process for a portfolio of clients, working with a team of international accountants to complete reconciliations and prepare supporting schedules as needed
Prepare monthly financial statements including trend and variance analysis
Own general accounting processes, including streamlining workflow and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables
Increase efficiency and document complex accounting processes with clients, including internal processes and controls
Prepare federal, state and local tax and compliance filings such as: 1099s, Delaware Franchise, 3921s, etc.
Support clients through audits and due diligence as needed
Client Services
Actively engage with clients to deliver high quality service to a portfolio of clients in multiple industries
Partner with Propeller Directors/CFOs to manage client relationships
Act as the primary point of contact for clients' accounting questions and needs
Qualifications:
Operational accounting experience; multi-client experience required
Proactive communicator with problem solving and organizational skills
An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

Experience with full close-cycle accounting

Position Overview
The Accounting Specialist supports the financial health and operational

What You'll Do
Financial Processing (60%)

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with booking accounting teammates regarding outstanding invoices that need to be booked

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
As an Accounting Intern on our Controllers team within our finance department, you will have the opportunity to support finance functions in operational accounting, reporting, controls, SOX/FORM, tax, as well as product support in our shared services organization.
Examples of intern tasks and projects include:
Execute accounting and financial operations processes and related controls.
Analyze accounting results using reports to explain assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and/or other financial activities and results.
Gather, document, and maintain financial information from relevant finance and accounting sources.
Perform analytics and reporting on business and financial information to provide insights to stakeholders, make projections of prospective financial performance and determine appropriate treatment.
Interact, collaborate, and problem solve directly with finance and key business partners.
There are 8 openings for this position which can be based in either our Washington, DC (Midtown Center) or Reston, VA (Reston Town Center) offices.
