    JACKSON COUNTY, GEORGIA CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION CLASSIFICATION TITLE: CORRECTIONS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION The purpose of this classification is to assist the Warden in managing the daily operations of the Correctional Institute. Develops and implements internal business systems to track the budgets and actual costs of food service, facilities operations, inmate crews, security services and other programs. Assist the Warden in developing and implementing written policies and standards of services. Develops programs of service and methods to measure efficiency and effectiveness of these service programs. Assists the Warden in providing for the security of the facility and the safety of personnel and inmates. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Assists the Warden in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Correctional Institute, including providing for the security of the facility and the safety of inmates and personnel. Performs various financial tasks for the department; maintains state subsidy records; assists the Warden with budget issues and prepares revenues as required; prepares invoices for special details and other revenue reports as well as various reimbursement including but not limited to medical; assist with the processing of GCIC/NCIC background checks. Oversees inmate roster and other tracking reports related to inmate accountability. Assists in coordinating staff and office functions during an escape; prepares and completes required documents. Oversees the use and repair of the facility phones and information technology equipment; coordinates maintenance and repair of office equipment. Responsible for all institutional supply purchases and related inventory maintenance. Responsible for tracking, documentation and issue of requisitions for all institutional purchases. Coordinates various office functions related to daily operations. Assist food service operations in the absence of Food Service Sergeant. Functions as direct back up for all Inmate Coordinator duties. As such, must have knowledge and ability to perform all aspects of the Inmate Coordinator. May be assigned, as needed, a Corrections Officer Shift due to staffing issues. Attends administrative meetings and provides appropriate input as assigned. Monitors and evaluates all aspects of facility operations. Operates a personal computer, copier, fax machine, phone system, communication system, and other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software; develops and coordinates preventive maintenance programs on equipment. Performs related administrative tasks; maintains departmental payroll records; manages employee personnel files; places orders for uniforms. Performs related clerical and secretarial duties for the office; answers general calls, provides information and assistance to callers and forwards or takes messages as appropriate; provides information to visitors; performs data entry, composes and prepares correspondence and reports; receives and files documents; types reports, forms and related information. Performs various administrative support tasks for special projects which may involve researching and analyzing information; coordinates related tasks; prepares resolutions, contracts and related documents; maintains department records, indexes and logs. Maintains confidential files and personnel files. Submits monthly subsidy reports required by the Department of Corrections. Serves as a liaison between the facility and other County departments as well as public/contracted agencies. Enrolls cadets in Basic Correctional Officer Training and other related facility training. Maintains and updates P.O.S.T. records and profiles. Maintains agency social media and web based public relations content. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS Attends Department of Corrections seminars, training sessions and other meetings as required. Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Requires a high school diploma or GED from an accredited facility with vocational or technical school training in business, secretarial science or related field; any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills, and abilities for this job. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality to sensitive information. Proficiency in all Microsoft Applications. Provide a thorough understanding of Department of Corrections guidelines and federal, state and local laws pertaining to the incarceration of persons, knowledge of various administrative functions and activities performed in the daily operations of a correctional facility; knowledge of modern corrections practices and procedures, knowledge of counseling and evaluation techniques, knowledge of symptoms of substance abuse and methods for assessing stages of development, and skill in interviewing and behavioral observation; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must have the ability to obtain POST Certification from the Georgia Department of Corrections and maintain valid certification in good standing for the duration of employment. Performs pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment; performs preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery; checks oil and fuel levels; cleans and washes trucks and equipment. Safely and efficiently operates heavy equipment to perform tasks while being aware of surroundings, hazards, people, and other obstacles to ensure safety of employees and general public while maintaining traffic control. Assists with the supervision of Equipment Operator I employees in training. Operates a variety of hand and power tools while performing routine maintenance and emergency repairs of equipment. Observes waste to identify hazardous materials or substances excluded from acceptance at regulated solid waste disposal facilities. Locations offered are based on operational and mission requirements and critical agency hiring needs for entry-level CBPOs as determined by the CBP Office of Field Operations (OFO). Salary -and Duty Location Recruitment Incentives- and Benefits Annual Base Salary for newly appointed CBPOs varies as follows: GL-5 $49,739-$61,833 GL-7 $56,623-$71,615 GL-9 $63,148-$81,480 Locality pay varies by duty location. A fully trained CBP Officer is eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay in addition to the starting salary. Grade level eligibility and salaries vary depending upon background, including experience and education, and duty location of the opportunity. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression of GS-5, GS-7, GS-9, GS-11, and GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without re-applying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level. Promotions are at the discretion of the agency. Officers are eligible to select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health, dental and other insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan akin to a traditional and ROTH 401(k) offering. Duties include: Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area. Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions. Our Uniformed Division's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. Today, the Uniformed Division has grown both in size and scope of responsibility and is mandated by law to provide physical security for the White House Complex and the vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory.
