The Jackson Laboratory Security Services Department is hiring a full time, Security Officer for our Bar Harbor, Maine campus! Working under limited supervision, this position is responsible for ensuring the safety of all employees, visitors, contractors and guests as well as protecting all property and assets of The Jackson Laboratory. Responsible for staffing and monitoring at assigned post/stations and the Security Operation Center as well performing patrol rounds as assigned and necessary. Responds to emergencies as necessary and providing assistance as needed. Security Services provides 24/7 coverage at The Jackson Laboratory and shift hours may include day/evening/overnight and weekend/holiday hours as required. There are shift differentials paid for the overnight and w/end shifts! Key Responsibilities: * Quickly responds to a variety of emergencies on foot and vehicle (if necessary), rendering aid to employees, visitors, contractors and guests. Assists emergency responders as necessary. Utilizes Emergency Mass Notification system if necessary. * Responsible for the continued protection of all Jackson Laboratory assets and property. * Performs security effort across the campus - monitoring of security systems/alarms/telephones and radios. Responds to requests for assistance including door unlocks, escorts, security system overrides, granting access permissions on security systems * Maintains Basic First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certifications and renders aid when needed. The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is seeking an Associate Computational Scientist to join the AI/ML group within JAX Data Science. In this role, you will apply and develop advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to analyze imaging and multi-omics data across diverse biomedical research areas, including cancer, aging, longevity, and neurodegenerative disorders. You will collaborate closely with research faculty and Scientific Services to advance JAX's strategic priorities, including bridging human and mouse biology through cellular models. Preclinical Pharmacology runs preclinical studies for external customers in areas of Oncology, Neurobiology, Autoimmune Diseases. Working under limited supervision, the Preclinical Technologist II is fully proficient with latitude for independent judgement; performs advanced bio-methods, including complex tasks, and highly developed procedures. Additional responsibilities include understanding study timelines and communicating issues effectively. The level II technologist is expected to proactively seek out new opportunities that will enhance the team such as serving as a mentor, checking for quality gaps, organizing lab spaces for inspections and audits and understanding scientific content. The Security Manager is responsible for providing operational support and leadership to Security Services programs and facilitating the development and implementation of JAX wide Security Operating Procedures (SOPs), emergency management and preparedness plans across all sites of The Jackson Laboratory (JAX). The Rare Disease Translational Center is seeking a motivated, detail oriented full time Animal Care Technologist to join our team at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine. The successful candidate will be working with a dynamic team to support all aspects of the research, including independent management of mouse colonies, making key recommendations regarding breeding management, bio-sampling and evaluation of mouse disposition. Postdoctoral Associate | Sickle Cell Disease Agoro Lab Bar Harbor, ME The Agoro lab at the Jackson Laboratory for Mammalian Genetics is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to identify mechanisms that trigger sickle cell disease crisis. The goal of our laboratory is to determine the mechanisms of disease severity heterogeneity using systems biology. We use a multidisciplinary approach that integrates genetics, genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to isolate systemic and tissue-specific marker of disease progression. Working under direct supervision, this position is responsible for participating in the acquisition, sanitization, distribution, and minor maintenance of all equipment and supplies required for operation of animal facilities. In smaller work groups the incumbent may be responsible for one or more areas of responsibility as outlined below. Moving and transporting Autoclave Carts to parking spots and automated induction. The Environmental Health and Safety Manager at The Jackson Laboratory is responsible for leading environmental health and safety at designated production and/or research laboratory location(s). Leading and maintaining comprehensive environmental health and safety operations which includes adhering to the EHS management system and continuous improvement of associated programs for a production and/or research laboratory-based organization. This role is located full time in Bar Harbor, ME with travel to other JAX campuses as needed Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: * Assist with the development and maintenance of the campus master plan through consideration of the program and growth needs of The Jackson Laboratory; the master plan supports the mission of the institution with detailed short-, mid-, and long-term plans for campus facilities and infrastructure to meet the needs of the organization and is a tool to guide development of the campus. * Ensures that all capital projects and physical improvements are effectively managed by overseeing all activity on these projects, including feasibility analysis, programming, preliminary studies and development of alternative solutions, code review, project design, development of contract documents, preparation of project estimates and budgets, solicitation, receipt, and evaluation of project bids for award to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder, construction administrations, site observation of construction, management of the project budget, and project close-out. * Ensures that construction projects are in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations by developing and enforcing JAX policies and procedures for all facets of the planning, design, and construction process, including but not limited to, consultant selection and award of contracts for consultant services, advertising, bidding, and award of construction contracts, consideration of bonding and insurance requirements, and project close-out. * Ensures the success of capital projects and physical improvements by coordinating with site specific Facilities Management teams for the installation and commissioning of engineered systems and preparation for occupancy continuing throughout the life of the facilities; on an ongoing basis, works with Facilities Management to develop solutions to facility-related problems. * Develops and maintains departmental policies, guidelines, and standards applicable to the entire JAX enterprise. Develops and maintains design standards and quality expectations for physical improvements and communicates them to consultants, contractors, and others performing construction on campus. * Manages the office of Engineering & Technical Services (>10 staff members) by recommending the most effective and efficient structure and staffing for the office, hiring qualified applicants, supervising staff, training personnel to departmental and JAX standards and procedures, assigning projects appropriate to the capabilities of the employee, setting goals and objectives, developing staff to take on more challenging assignments and evaluating performance. Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Bachelor degree in Architecture, Engineering, or directly related field (AIA or PE registration or ability to be registered within 12 months preferred). * 15+ years Facilities Engineering/Planning experience in an industrial/institutional setting, 5 of which in a technical supervisory capacity. This experience must include discerning program needs from user input to develop programming and planning documents, guiding and managing the design process, developing and managing project budgets, overseeing multi-million dollar construction projects involving a diversity of construction systems, and field observation of construction. Construction industry experience within institutional research environment is preferred. * Intimate knowledge and understanding of architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil systems encountered as part of facilities construction, renovation, and maintenance. Strong knowledge of building codes, industry standards, contract language applicable to the construction industry, and applicable statutes of the States of California, Connecticut, Florida and Maine is beneficial. * Management skills, particularly in decision-making, are required. The ability to gather and thoroughly analyze information in order to make well-founded recommendations to The Jackson Laboratory's senior management is required. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. The Engineering Technician - Automation & Mechanical Systems will support engineering efforts across The Jackson Laboratory's JMCRS (Jackson Mice & Clinical Research Services) and Research Services. This hands-on role will assist both the Controls/Automation Engineer and Mechanical Engineer in the design, assembly, testing, and maintenance of automated and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, experience working in industrial or laboratory environments, and a proactive approach to supporting engineering projects that improve efficiency, reduce ergonomic risks, and enhance operational capabilities. The salary range is $25.34 - $36.75. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Key Responsibilities (What you bring): * Assist engineers with the assembly, installation, and testing of mechanical and automation systems. * Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and components. * Maintain accurate records of work performed, including test results and system modifications. * Support safe work practices and follow institutional safety protocols. * Manage tools, parts, and materials inventory for engineering projects. * Collaborate with engineers on prototype development and system integration. * Participate in cross-functional projects across JMCRS and Research Services. * Provide feedback on system performance and suggest improvements. * Assist in training or guiding other technical staff on equipment use and maintenance. * Support documentation and validation efforts for regulated systems.
