1921

In 1921, Harvey Newell opened a new paper distribution business named, Jackson Paper Company, in the heart of downtown Jackson, Mississippi.

1945

In August of 1945 the image was printed in the Meridian Star newspaper as a way to introduce the coming of Newell Paper Company to Meridian.

1946

In 1946, after 25 years in business, the branch in Meridian, Mississippi was opened and named Newell Paper Company.

1968

Some 22 years later, in 1968, our Columbus branch was opened.

1974

Mead ceased operations in Sylva in 1974 and turned the property over to the local government.

1978

The facility remained idle until 1978, when Dixie Container, a group of five box plants owned by L. Clifford Schroeder, purchased the mill.

1994

Following a strategic review of its facilities in 1994, Tenneco put the mill back on the market.

1995

Tim Campbell and Jeff Murphy, purchased the Sylva mill in March 1995 and renamed the facility Jackson Paper Manufacturing Company.
