Jacuzzi history

After getting his feet wet in the garage of James Smith McDonnell—who’d go on to co-found the massive aerospace corporation McDonnell Douglas—he did mechanic work near the flying field of the 1915 Panama-Pacific World’s Fair in San Francisco.

In 1925, Rachele developed a pump to move water with water.

On April 22nd, 1941, Candido and his wife Inez welcomed their fourth child, Ken.

The original hydrotherapy jet was invented by the Jacuzzi® brothers in 1956.

The first models sold by Roy and his company Jacuzzi Bros. (later Jacuzzi, Inc.) were sold to the public in 1968.

In 1979, the family sold the business to New York based Kidde Inc.

In 1986, Candido died at the age of 83 years old.

By 1987, Jacuzzi's whirlpool products alone were garnering some $57 million in sales.

In 1990, Roy Jacuzzi® was placed in the National Kitchen and Bath Hall of Fame in the USA, recognising him for his many contributions in the innovation of hydrotherapy for home use.

In April 1996 this segment was strengthened with the purchase of Haugh's Products Limited, a leading Canadian manufacturer of above-ground swimming pools and equipment with estimated annual sales of about $11 million.

In 2001, the Jacuzzi® bathroom brand was expanded in the UK to include sanitaryware, premium shower enclosures, furniture, brassware and accessories to offer a full contemporary bathroom collection.
