SUMMARY OF DUTIES: En Route Cleaners (ERC) must be detailed oriented personnel who can follow direction and procedures. ERC are responsible for the cleaning trainsets while the trains are in transit (moving) between station stops. Primary responsibility for en route cleaners will be cleaning the restrooms with secondary responsibility to the rest of the train. The ERC shall perform the duties including but not limited to mopping, surface cleaning, and bathroom services. The ERC must be punctual, work well alone and at a fast pace. Coordinate leave requests and arrange coverage as needed to maintain an acceptable level of staffing. Recommend equipment purchases, and changes in policies and procedures. Act as a liaison between the custodial and maintenance staffs. Work with the Superintendent of Custodians or (LHS) Facilities Operations Manager to manage the inventory for the tracking of custodial supplies. Notify the Superintendent of Custodians or (LHS) Facilities Operations Manager of any failures to comply with policies and procedures. Facilitate harmony within the buildings custodial staff. Other duties assigned by the Facilities Operations Manager and/or the Director of Facilities. Essential Functions of the Job: Must possess the ability to: Thoroughly and efficiently clean all areas of the building. Prioritize, schedule, assign and review work. Interpret, explain and apply codes, rules and regulations involved in the field of custodial services. Effectively and safely operate a variety of tools and equipment used to perform all aspects of building cleaning. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with peers, supervisors and administration. Estimate time to complete and material used for specific cleaning projects. Work independently with little direction. Coordinate schedules and timelines. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Type using a computer keyboard. Exercise sound judgement in executing assigned work Exercise judgement in handling confidential information. Answer questions from employees and department heads. Work well under pressure and tight deadlines coordinating multiple projects and activities. Specialty Areas: Knowledge of supervisory concepts and practices. Knowledge and experience with safety rules and regulations applicable to facilities custodial activities. Experience in planning and scheduling custodial activities. Inventory management and procurement experience. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is required to bend at the waist, push, pull, move, lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds, twist/turn, climb ladders, shovel snow, seek to assure proper and complete cleaning, and use dexterity of hands and fingers to operate power cleaning equipment.
