Under the direction of the Lead Custodian, the incumbent will provide support for the daily custodial maintenance and operation of all facilities at Naval Base Point Loma. Incumbent will perform a full range of custodial duties related to the care, maintenance and cleaning of all assigned buildings and facilities. SDSU Facilities Services (FS), a department of Business and Financial Affairs, is a customer service-based organization providing facility maintenance activities through a transparent and deliberate process. It is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, renovation, remodel, and alteration activities in support of the academic and research mission of the university. Facilities Services employs over 253 employees (full time and students) and supports approximately eight million square feet of buildings (including residence halls and parking structures) and 280 acres of improved and unimproved land with an operating budget of approximately forty-five million dollars.
The Office of Housing Administration (OHA) is a self-funded operation responsible for planning, providing, and administering housing operations, services, and facilities with over 100 employees and over 150 student assistants with an annual operating budget exceeding $145,000,000. OHA provides housing for over 8,500 students in 25 communities with over 2 million sq. ft. of residential facilities. The OHA manages the operation of residence halls, apartments, and conference and event spaces. The OHA supports the educational mission of the Residential Education Office (REO) while providing business operations for all housing-related functions in support of a quality environment to enhance the student educational experience.

Job Overview
The Custodian shall provide routine and specialty commercial cleaning support to a variety of buildings. This support includes, but is not limited to, sweeping, mopping, or scrubbing, removing trash and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, and fixtures; polishing metal fixtures; providing supplies and general labor services. The Custodian is also accountable for maintaining inventory needs.
Saturday - $24.06 + 1.25/hr. shift differential + $2.00/hr. Saturday differential = $27.31/hr. Sunday - $24.06 + $1.25/hr. shift differential + $3.00/hr. Sunday differential = $28.31/hr.
Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 5:30pm - 11:30pm
Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
* Clean and care for the interior and exterior areas of federal buildings.
* Maintain custodian equipment, i.e. preventive maintenance and request for repairs.
* Maintain custodian supplies and materials, i.e. inventory and request purchases.
* Perform general labor services.
* Train other custodial workers as needed.
* Sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, and vacuuming a variety of floor surfaces.
* Perform special cleaning projects in accordance with customer requests.
* Properly utilize cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals/products.
* May assist with emergency spills and incidents when needed.
* Reports observed repairs for furniture, building and fixtures.
* Dust/clean interior piping.
* Clean up all dust/debris displaced during cleaning.
* Dust equipment, furniture, and/or fixtures to ensure surfaces are clean.
* Secure doors when entering, during and after completion of work.
* Use cleaning solutions approved by customer and company.
* Mix cleaning agents in accordance with SDS.
* Remove trash and recycling as directed/scheduled.
* Clean glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
* Move material, equipment and furniture as needed to perform work tasks.
* Document all work tasks as directed.
* Perform all duties in accordance with safe work practices.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

* Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
* Adherence to all safety and health rules and regulations.
* Harmoniously working with other Defense Base Services Incorporated employees and customers.
* Working with management to outline work to be done, after which incumbent is expected to work independently.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.

* U.S. Citizenship.
* Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred:
* Experience working in a Federal Government facility.
Working Conditions:
* Must be able to stand for long period of time.

* Ability to wear PPE to include eye wear and gloves when needed.
