GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The position works under the supervision of the Building Maintenance Assistant and Building Superintendent. The custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly environment for all staff and visitors. This is a "safety sensitive" position as defined by Act 593 of 2017. An essential function is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean and sanitize bathrooms in assigned building(s) as well as monitoring readiness and accessibility of public restrooms and reports any necessary repairs to the Building Maintenance Assistant. This duty is performed daily.
Sweep, mop, scrub and vacuum hallways, stairs and office space. This duty is performed daily.
Wash walls, windows and dust as necessary. This duty is performed daily.
Empty trash containers. This duty is performed daily.
Clean windows and polish fixtures. This duty is performed daily.
Clean all inside entries and hallways. This duty is performed daily.
Maintain outside walk areas including sweeping debris and washing walkways. This duty is performed daily.
Strip and wax floors. This duty is performed as needed.
Clean carpets on a regular schedule. This duty is performed as needed.
Clean light fixtures on a regular schedule. This duty is performed as needed.
Clean air vents on a regular schedule. This duty is performed as needed.
Assists with the direction of work release inmates. This duty is performed as needed.
Keeps sufficient cleaning and paper supplies in inventory, requests cleaning supplies and equipment as needed. This duty is performed weekly.
Available to work nights, weekends, overtime, holidays and County evens as needed or scheduled. This duty is performed as needed.
This position is designed as a safety sensitive position because it requires the regular handing of cleaning chemicals. Performing this job in a discreet and professional manner always requires alertness. Any lapse of attention could have a significant financial impact on the County and the employees and/or public. This duty is performed daily.
Check and notates date on fire extinguishers in his/her building/offices. This duty is performed monthly.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
