TITLE: Custodian REPORTS: Building Superintendent/Assistant Program Director/Deputy Director of Operations/Facility Manager DEPARTMENT: Operations FLSA CODE: Non-exempt PROGRAM: OASAS Residential/ Supportive Housing MAJOR FUNCTIONS: The Custodial Worker is responsible for all custodial renovations, safety code and emergency situations in the facility. S/he is responsible for daily cleaning and housekeeping activities. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct regular facility inspections to assess standards and identify areas of concern. Responsible for emergency and minor repairs to be completed in a timely fashion. Responsible for responding to consumer work orders in a timely fashion. Meet monthly for supervision with assigned supervisor. Clean floors, windows, fixtures, offices, stairs, restrooms and doors. This cleaning process is normally done with brooms, mops, brushes and cleaning cloths. Use of various machines such as buffer, vacuum cleaners, carpet machine, etc. Responsible for the removal of snow in the winter from parking lots, driveways and other areas that might prevent the resident/tenant to enter. The sidewalks are kept clear and ice free with snow melt. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings. Attend all required in-service training seminars. Other relevant duties as assigned. Job Description #INDMPW2 JOB FUNCTION: This position is responsible for the operation of tools and equipment in a variety of customer work sites for providing industrial and/or environmental cleaning. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Strictly adhere to MPW Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. 2. Mow grass, trim hedges Maintain cleanliness and appearance of outdoor areas Ensure bridges and underpasses are well-kept and free from overgrowth or debris Cleaning & Litter Removal: Perform litter pickup on sidewalks and curbs Sweep sidewalks and walkways Empty trash bins and replace liners Seasonal & Special Tasks: Snow removal from sidewalks and common areas is mandatory during winter Participate in overtime as needed for emergencies, weather events, or special projects Support additional maintenance or cleaning tasks as assigned Requirements: Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Prior landscaping or janitorial experience preferred Ability to follow company policies and uphold cleanliness and safety standards Must be available for snow removal assignments, including nights and weekends if necessary Must have a working phone that is able to download two mobile apps used to complete the job Ability to use phone app for report completion of each location Must be age 18 or over Must have 2 valid forms of ID. 1 must have a photo Able to work a flexible schedule, including holidays Good communication skills and ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions are also required Ability to speak and read english Accommodation: Candidates for the position should be able to perform essential job duties in described work environment with or without accommodation.
