Under the direction of the Building Services Supervisor, serves as Building Services Associate for the Community Association at Sun City Huntley Responsibilities include performing custodial and room meeting set-up duties, and will require first and second shift rotation to include some weekends and holidays in order to meet the expectation of the building services department. Work effectively to keep the facilities clean and functioning properly. Perform light maintenance duties as requested. Ensure that all support and service is conducted and fulfilled within the goals and objectives of the building services department to include requests made through the facilities department.

· Responsible for the set-up and breakdown of daily events for CAM and other sponsored functions, as well as provides custodial services for the Prairie Lodge Recreation Center, Fountain View Center, Meadow View Lodge and other facilities, including activity rooms, ballroom, lounges, restrooms, pools and possible other facilities.

· Provide teamwork to other Building Services Associates regarding cleaning services and building area coverage and setup duties as assigned, while maintaining a positive attitude.

· Assist as needed to ensure all functions and events have the proper coverage needed to handle all the necessary duties; flexible to cover Associates time off as needed.

· Provide communication to the Building Services Supervisor and the Facilities Manager regarding building concerns and/or issues pertaining to cleaning or scheduled functions.

· Custodial tasks include, but are not limited to cleaning floors (vinyl, carpet and wood), windows, lavatories, shower/locker facilities, windows; emptying trash; dusting furniture. In outdoor areas, tasks include emptying of trash receptacles, cleaning of water fountains, and cleaning of outdoor furniture.
· Perform minor maintenance tasks as needed.
· Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
· Set up AV equipment as needed.
Experience/Education:
+ High school graduate or its equivalency preferred
+ Basic computer skills required
+ Prior Janitorial/Custodial Experience
+ Must have a valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle and be insurable if necessary

REPORTS TO: Environmental Services Manager

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Environmental Services Manager, with daily direction and scheduling provided by the Environmental Services Supervisor, the Environmental Services Staff is responsible for the cleaning of all MBL facilities including the upkeep of all offices, laboratories, workshops and other MBL facilities, housing- dorms, apartments, houses and cottages.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain assigned areas set forth by supervisor and/or manager. This includes the cleaning of all floors, offices, labs, classrooms/auditoriums, halls, common areas (including stairs), rest room facilities, doorways, and entrances immediately outside of assigned area. Strip and remake beds; bundle soiled linen; clean guest rooms, bathrooms, dust and sanitize flat surfaces; empty trash; vacuum, sweep, dry mop, and wet mop rooms, hallways, stairways, and other public areas; wash walls; move linens to and from drop-off locations.

2. Provide setup and cleaning support of conferences in all MBL areas.

3. Assist in moving furniture and other contents from building to building as required.

4. Report any unsafe conditions immediately to the Environmental Services Supervisor and/or the Environmental Services Manager.

5. Work as a team with other MBL Staff to accomplish special projects or provide backup to other staff members.

6. Assist Environmental Services Supervisor with spot checking rooms before guests check in.

7. Perform miscellaneous tasks including but not limited to changing light bulbs, responding to emergencies, etc.

8. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Must have the ability to follow directions and be attentive to detail. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and cleaning equipment required. Strong interpersonal skills required including the ability to communicate positively and politely with clients, visitors, and other MBL staff. Must be able to read and interpret written instructions and labels as they pertain to equipment and products used by the department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Previous housekeeping/janitorial experience is preferred, but not required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and drug test required.

Should be prepared to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. Valid driver's license with favorable driving record preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires medium work (exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects). Worker is required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, grasp, talk, hear, taste/smell, and perform repetitive motions. Worker is required to use step ladders up to 10 feet high. Worker is required to have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and to make general observations of the facilities and structures.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Worker is exposed to inside environmental conditions, with most tasks being performed in laboratory facilities, housing facilities, classrooms, auditoriums and offices. Occasional work is performed outside where worker may be exposed to adverse weather conditions. Worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways Worker is exposed to noises and vibrations; hazards such as harsh cleaning chemicals; atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, and dusts. Worker is required to wear protective equipment, such as latex gloves, as required by OSHA regulations, and to handle sharps.
