ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an entry level Mechanical Maintenance position. Performs various tasks associated with the inspection, root cause failure analysis and repairs of mechanical systems. This includes preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
Performs tasks associated with maintaining mechanical systems throughout the plant.
Work with contractor personnel and ensure quality control as well as productivity.
Participates in formal and on-the job training programs to acquire/broaden both technical and non- technical job skills; participates in cross training activities.
Interacts with members of Process Areas on a regular basis to gather or communicate information, solve problems, etc.
Assists with preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment. Services and lubricates plant equipment as required.
Suggests programs that reduce/contain costs and/or increase productivity. Takes independent action to resolve problems when appropriate.
Participates in team meetings.
Works rotating shift schedule and weekends as assigned.
Supports other plant functions as assigned.
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school diploma
Additional Education: Two years technical college in a related subject is preferred.
Required Work Experience: 2-4 years industrial experience as a millwright is required. Experience with rebuilding gear boxes, shaft alignment on heavy industrial equipment, bearing installation is desired.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of overall cement plant operations or comparable heavy industrial environment is preferred.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

The perfect person will have:
B.S. degree in engineering (highly preferred), business management, operations management, supply chain management or related field preferred.
2-5 years overall manufacturing experience.
Experience in a supervisory or lead role is highly desired, specifically experience in associate development and safety.
Experience in one or more of the following functional areas is required: manufacturing, distribution, raw materials purchasing, inventory planning controls management, sales and customer service.
Some other nice features to have:
Working knowledge of all facets of manufacturing including continuous improvement, team building, safety, associate relations, quality, and customer service.
Good oral and written communication skills and strong leadership skills are required.

Perform mathematical calculations to measure and layout construction elements; determine quantities, and simple geometric layout on bridges and culverts. Read and interpret bridge plans, shop drawings, and sketches.
Bridge Maintenance: Build and install footers, abutments and wing walls by placing and finishing major and minor concrete elements. Erect fabricated steel beam bridges and install timber and concrete bridge decks. Perform preventative and restorative structural maintenance activities to large culverts and bridge structures. Place temporary bridges and remove damaged structures. Perform mathematical calculations to measure and layout construction elements; determine quantities, and simple geometric layout on bridges and culverts. Read and interpret bridge plans, shop drawings, and sketches.
Environmental Protection: Lead and apply appropriate in-stream and environmental protection measures during all structural maintenance and construction activities.
Equipment Operation: Demonstrate considerable skill and expertise as an operator in the proper and safe use of all equipment needed to perform bridge related construction and or maintenance tasks.
Job Safety: Determine and demonstrate proper work site protection techniques. Identify workplace safety hazards and make suggestions for improvement. Wear personal protection equipment. Maintain current knowledge of safety rules, regulations, laws and procedures (OSHA and VOHSA, etc.). Use equipment properly and safely. Apply MUTCD for detours, land closures, work zones, etc. Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work environment. Follow VDOT safety regulations and practices.
Leadership: Conduct on-the-job training and recommend additional training needs to Bridge Superintendent. Provide constructive feedback on job performance of crew. Assist with record keeping and administrative tasks. May serve as back-up Bridge supervision and may represent work unit at meetings. May serve in a supervisory capacity during emergencies.
Manual labor: As a leader and working member of the crew completes projects and accomplishes objectives. Performs manual labor and other tasks to accomplish the construction, repair and maintenance of timber, steel, and concrete bridge elements and other structures.
Preventive Maintenance: Lead and perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and power tools used in bridge construction and maintenance. Transport personnel, equipment, and materials to and from various work sites. Ensure equipment is properly and safely maintained. Complete pre-trip inspections for any vehicle or equipment operated.
Traffic Control: Provide traffic control in support of bridge operations. Install and remove traffic signs and other warning devices in a timely and appropriate manner. Flag traffic to ensure a safe and effective work zone.
