JB Hi-Fi was established in 1974 by Mr.
ReachOut.com was the world’s first online youth mental health service (switched on in 1998). They receive over 1.85 million visitors a year.
In July 2000 JB Hi-Fi was purchased by private equity bankers and senior management with the aim of taking the successful model nationally.
In October 2003, JB Hi-Fi was floated on the Australian Stock Exchange.
In July 2004, JB bought the Queensland Clive Anthony chain of stores which sell consumer electronics, white goods, cooking appliances and air-conditioning.
Started in November 2008, Helping Hands allows employees to donate to 10 charity partners through regular payroll deductions.
As of August 2018, JB Hi-Fi is ranked as the equal 7th largest consumer electronics and home appliance retailer in the world.
On 28 April 2021, it was announced that Richard Murray, JB Hi-Fi's CEO of seven years, would be leaving his role at the end of August to work alongside trader Solomon Lew at the latter's company Premier Investments.
