Front End Manager Department: Operations Supervisor: Branch Manager FLSA: Exempt (Salaried) Ensures that product is properly loaded, rung up and processed out the door on a timely basis as well as handling customer problems and issues to develop a spirit of positive customer service.
Essential Functions:
* Supervises, trains and evaluates cashiers, front-end loaders, checkers and U-boat retrieval.
* Oversees supervisors cashiers and loaders.
* Monitors loaders to make sure that they load all product and check any open boxes to ensure integrity/security of product being entered.
* Makes sure that loaders are loading and conducting piece counts and calling off to supervisors.
* Secures front end by making sure the loader and cashier do not exchange information on counts from the receipt.
* Makes sure that loaders are loading wagons and assisting customers to the parking lot.
* Manages cashiers and loaders to make sure that customers are getting out on a timely basis.
* Prevents long lines and delayed customer checkouts. Anticipates busy times of each day, week and/or season.
* Assures that cashiers are checking big boxes to ensure the integrity of the ring-up.
* Ensures Front End Supervisors are checking all wagons at point of exit for proper date, name on top of receipt, number of receipt total of last receipt, and matches total on yellow paid receipt.
* Reviews cashier and loader errors and documents in log, for them to sign.
* Handles adjustments, returns, over rings, voids, etc. so as to maintain a smooth flow of customers.
* Keeps logs of items not properly labeled to make sure they are corrected on floor.
* Monitors cashiers to make sure they are following through on their job responsibilities concerning loading of goods onto wagons, checking of receipts and counts, as well as ringing/scanning of product.
* Assures that customer problems are handled quickly, courteously and professionally so as not to allow the cashier or loader to have words with the customer.
* Assures that the front end has proper staffing and operating equipment to allow quick and accurate checkout. Including scanners and registers.
* Maintains dialogue with customers to get feedback on items not found, and quality of service on the floor.
* Maintains a New Item Request log which is reviewed weekly with the Branch Manager.
* Ensures that customers have adequate supply of wagons that are working and roll easy.
* Makes sure that employees in front end are properly dressed and wearing their name tags.
* Develops weekly schedule for cashiers and loaders as well as lunches and breaks.
* Assigns employees in slow periods to do other work, such as return or processing of damages, sweeping and cleaning of F/E and parking lot area.
* Trains employees in job responsibilities and safe operating procedures.
* Makes recommendations for hiring, firing and promoting of employees.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Maintains integrity of F/E displays and stocking areas.
* Ensure all supervisors are completing a minimum of 5 test checks per day they work.
* Ensure registers are stocked with the Rate Us Cards, flyers, hot sheets, store maps, etc.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:
* Bachelor's Degree, OR High School Diploma of GED with at least 4 years experience in customer service or related field, OR any appropriate combination of education and experience.

Inventory Controller Department: Branch Management Supervisor: Assistant Branch Manager/Branch Manager FLSA: Non-Exempt Works closely with Assistant Branch Managers and Branch Manager to ensure efficient operations in Inventory, Front End, Cash Room and Receiving Departments. Maintains a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient customer service. Supports the Branch Manager in maintaining company standards. Can be responsible for holding warehouse keys. Performs manual labor as needed.
Essential Functions:
* Maintains the accuracy of the physical inventory at the branch.
* Uses a scan gun and moves merchandise as needed in order to obtain information needed
* Makes decisions on pricing and insures that gross margins are maintained on a level required by corporate.
* Communicates margin issues to buyers and follows up for timely response.
* Reviews sales price differential report to determine if front end pricing is accurate and makes the appropriate changes.
* Insures that cycle counts are being conducted on a timely and regular basis.
* Trains all staff for inventory purposes and is responsible for the preparation and conducting of semi-annual inventories.
* Coordinates Inventory Control with the Receiving, Perishables, Dry Goods Floor and Front End to make sure low stock, out of stock, negative on hand and computer inventory is correct.
* Supervises Stock-taker (see # 5).
* Coordinates writing of adjustment vouchers to vendors for damages and meets with vendor reps to obtain their approvals.
* Responsible for liquor and tobacco tax filings with the proper governmental agencies.
* Reports shrink and research causes.
* Controls markdowns & voids by monitoring damages and overstock.
* Analyzes and determines reasons for negative inventory and margins.
* Reviews store statistical reports for any abnormal or erroneous data.
Other Responsibilities:
* Assists other Departments when needed including Front End.
* Performs various tasks and projects as directed by Branch Manager and Corporate Headquarters.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
* Minimum 4 years experience in retail or wholesale.
* Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
* Background in Physical Inventory maintenance/control.
* Proven leadership skills; ability to supervise and direct employees.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, vendors, customers and buying department.

Partners with department managers to share staff to accomplish tasks as needed on a daily basis.
Trains and monitors staff to ensure store is viewed as a whole, assisting customers in all areas.
Partners with department managers to cross-train staff to accomplish all needed tasks.
Partners with staff to ensure adequate product knowledge to meet customers' needs, training staff on where to find answers to customer questions by utilizing store resources.
Assists the Store Manager in completing and conducting all store staff performance evaluations with input from the department managers. Assists in granting wage increases when appropriate.
Interviews and hires for store needs with input from department managers.
Addresses all performance and/or disciplinary issues appropriately and in a timely manner with the assistance of Human Resources.
Maintains clear and direct communication with store staff which includes helping conduct monthly staff meetings and posting company information and announcements.
Responsible for ensuring safety guidelines are followed at all times.
Ensures that all Ulti-time edits are made in a timely manner.
Responsible for assisting the Store Manager in training, coaching and developing store personnel.
He/she encourages staff to increase their nutritional and product knowledge.
He/she answers (and ensures store staff answers) customer questions per company standards and policies, including the use of Structure/Function statements and/or statements of nutritional support.
Successfully completes operational responsibilities (daily schedules, checklists, opening and closing).
Ensures store paperwork/reports are completed in a timely manner (including Monthly Mgr's Report).
Efficiently and accurately completes the DSR and Manager's Cash.
Responds to all Dept. Manager calls when on duty and assists with coverage for lunches and breaks.
Occasionally managing business disruptions to daily business such as loiterers, solicitation, emergency weather situations, bathroom misuse.
Works a schedule based on store needs including evenings, weekends and scheduled for 45 hours per week.
Coaches staff on how to be supportive of decisions made by home office, listens to directions from home office, following through and correctly performing the job assigned.
Reads and follows communications (memos, faxes, emails) from home office.
Remains flexible to changing work demands in order to accomplish goals.
Managers are expected to be leaders in the workplace, setting the standard of excellence required through their job performance and professional demeanor.

Qualifications

Creating an inviting, full and shopable produce department.
Assisting the produce department manager in ordering for the department and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
Assisting the department manager in managing margin, COGs and overall department profitability including minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing.
Setting and maintaining the department on a daily basis including ensuring that the produce rack is consistently fresh, full and abundant throughout the day.
Culling, crisping, rotating and properly handling/storing produce.
Ensuring only certified organic produce is ordered and received.
Ensuring all in-stock products/conditions meet company standards.
Ensuring that all tools and equipment are cleaned in accordance with health department and company standards.
Receiving all incoming produce orders per company standards.
Offering and following up on special orders.
Assisting in training and monitoring department personnel.
Conducting active and passive demos.
Working with the department manager to address performance issues within the department.
Handling register functions including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, addressing customer complaints, and covering register shift changes, including those for scheduled breaks.
Maintaining the safety and security of customers and employees.
Answering customer questions per company standards and policies, including the use of Structure/Function statements and/or statements of nutritional support.
Continually increasing product knowledge.
Utilizing email and IS programs as needed.
Completing DSR and the closing cash processes may be required absence of any other qualified employee.
Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
This position has limited Manager on Duty functions but is never intended to be the overall Manager on Duty for the store.
Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities all employees are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.
Qualifications
Recipe for Success:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
1 year of experience in grocery, retail or produce environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
Possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
Possess excellent customer service skills.
Highly organized with great attention to detail.
Ability to take direction and follow through.
Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.

Partners with staff to ensure adequate product knowledge to meet customers' needs.
Completes and conducts all store staff performance evaluations with input from the department managers. Grants wage increases when appropriate in accordance with company standards.
Interviews and hires for store needs with input from department managers.
Addresses all performance and/or disciplinary issues appropriately and in a timely manner with the assistance of Human Resources.
Maintains clear and direct communication with store staff. This includes conducting monthly staff meetings and posting company information and announcements.

Notifying customers that we donate $.05 to the local foodbank for every transaction where a customer uses a reusable bag
Educating customers on the Nutrient to Know About
Promoting store seminars and events
Completing the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cashier closeout responsibilities.
Issuing and verifying cash drawers.
Handling returns and overrides at the front end.
Addressing customer complaints appropriately.
Ensuring that front end sets are full and well-maintained.
Overseeing completion of the front end task list daily.
Maintaining all registers binders.
Directing cashiers to tasks during slow times at the register.
General cashiering and check out duties including running a cash register, bagging/boxing groceries, and providing carry out service.
Monitoring, assigning and performing cart checks.
Answering the telephone.
Assisting in managing special orders.
Monitoring, assigning and grinding nut butters.
Learning the location of products in all the departments in order to direct the customers.
Participating in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock as needed.
Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
This position has limited Manager on Duty but is never intended to be the overall Manager on Duty for the store.
Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities all employees are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.
Qualifications
Recipe for Success:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
Experience in retail experience in a grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
1 year of cashiering experience preferred.
1 year of supervising others preferred.
Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
Sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
Excellent customer service skills.
Highly organized with great attention to detail.
Ability to take direction and follow through.
Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
