Position Summary: The Seasonal Swim Instructor Aide position is an integral part of the JCC Aquatics Department. Swim Instructor Aides will assist Swim Instructors to provide swimming and water safety instruction assistance to children and adults following the American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim curriculum and guidelines. Duties & Responsibilities: Inform your supervisor of potentially dangerous situations. Assist Swim Instructors in age and skill appropriate group lessons. Assist Swim Instructor in the evaluation and progress of Learn-To-Swim participants. Arrive to work on time and prepared to assist Swim Instructors with classes. Assist in the preparation in well-designed lesson plans for each class session. Provide feedback to Swim Instructor in regard to participant progress to participants, parents, and guardians. Maintain notes on participants and ideas for future classes. Participate in regular in-service training sessions and meetings. During down time you are responsible for checking the bathrooms, trash, and deck for cleanliness. All other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: Age Requirement:14 years and older Knowledge and Education Preferred: Possesses or working towards High School diploma (or equivalent), American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid (JCC will assist in obtaining these certifications) Experience - Minimum Required or Preferred: Possesses basic water skills and exhibits a strong sense of maturity and responsibility. Special Skills: Must be able to assist, communicate, and work with people of all ages.

About Your Compensation Compensation for this position starts at $17.50/Hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $21.00/Hour. About Your Work Day Create a safe, welcoming environment in which all program participants, staff members, and families can fully participate. Maintain constant surveillance of program participants, staff members, and other guests in/around the waterfront. Understand and enforce all waterfront rules and regulations. About Chautauqua Institution Chautauqua Institution is a not-for-profit global convener of dialogue on the most significant issues of the day through engagement across four pillars of the arts, education, religion, and recreation. The Chautauqua community is located on the shores of Chautauqua Lake in southwestern New York State and comes alive each summer with a unique mix of visual and performing arts, lectures, interfaith worship/programs, and recreational activities.
