What You'll Do
As a Lead Preschool Teacher at JCYS, you'll play a key role in shaping each child's experience. You'll work alongside passionate colleagues to create a warm, supportive environment where curiosity and learning flourish. Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and leading fun, developmentally appropriate activities that nurture children's growth and align with JCYS's values.
Building positive relationships by maintaining a warm, caring, and respectful attitude toward every child.
Actively supervising children in the classroom, hallways, playground, buses, and during offsite trips.
Sending daily updates to parents to keep them connected to their child's day.
Communicating with the Center Director about parent messages, classroom incidents, and important updates.
Collaborating with fellow teachers and staff to build a vibrant, connected learning community.
Keeping confidential information safe and handling it with care.
Attending staff meetings to learn, grow, and support one another.
Supporting JCYS policies and contributing to the center's positive atmosphere.
What You Bring
We're looking for someone who brings warmth, energy, and professionalism to the classroom, along with the following qualifications:
Education: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education (or a related field) is preferred, with at least 6 credit hours in child development.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with young children.
Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a talent for building positive relationships with children, parents, and fellow teachers.
Physical Engagement: You'll be physically active in your interactions with children-whether you're stooping, bending, sitting on the floor, or helping them on the playground.
A Love for Children: Above all, you must genuinely enjoy working with children and supporting their growth.
Physical Demands
To thrive in this role, you should be comfortable with physical activity. You'll frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch. General Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor and assigned Teacher, the Assistant Teacher/Associate Teacher is responsible for adherence to the guidelines of the Department of Health and Human Services, Head Start Education Performance Standards, and for helping assure the quality of developmental experience received by the children.
Will be responsible for meeting the State of Illinois Day Care Licensing Standards.
Participates in an on-going training program to further develop skills in child development.
Work with the classroom teacher, content area managers and staff to ensure appropriate Performance Standards are being implemented in the classroom.
Participates in monthly reflective supervision with classroom teacher.
Essential Functions
Assists the teacher in maintaining a safe and healthy environment that follows the Head Start Performance Standards.
In collaboration with the classroom staff, implements the principles of the Creative Curriculum approach based on a child-centered curriculum that encourages decision-making, cultural awareness, and exploration. Children are provided with choices of learning center activities, large and small groups, and individualized activities.
Helps the teacher to prepare material to be used in the daily program.
Co-facilitate meal service and promote appropriate social discussions and self-help skills.
Helps ensure that all documentation and individualization takes place in a timely manner.
Assist the Teachers with documenting classroom observations for the purpose of collecting data for child outcome assessments.
Assist Teacher in developing and implementing lesson plans.
Under the direction of the Teacher complete developmental and social emotional screenings.
Helps provide a balanced curriculum that encourages social and cultural awareness, exploration, predicting, and testing behaviors, choices of learning center activities, large and small groups, individualized activities, and language development.

A high school diploma or equivalent for Teacher Assistant, or Associates of Arts Degree in Child Development with 36 or more hours of college credits in Child Development or related field for Associate Teacher. All degrees must come from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval.
Prior experience (volunteer or paid) working with children ages Birth - Five years old is preferred.
Must be a least nineteen (19) years old.
During the first year of employment, complete a minimum of six (6) college credit hours in Child Development, with a minimum of a "C" grade or better.
Obtain and maintain a minimum, the Illinois Gateway ECE Credential Level 1 or a CDA or the Illinois Gateway ECE Credential Level 3 within 2 years of employment.

What You Will Do:

General Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor and assigned Teacher, the Assistant Teacher/Associate Teacher is responsible for adherence to the guidelines of the Department of Health and Human Services, Head Start Education Performance Standards, and for helping assure the quality of developmental experience received by the children.

Job Description
HRDI is seeking a
Teacher's Aide
to assist in the instruction of pupils and perform additional related duties as required.
In addition, the
Teacher's Aide
will:
Assist the teacher in the preparation and implementation of planning documents and the evaluation of student progress in academic and behavioral areas.
Provide students with direct assistance in achieving success throughout the teaching/learning process and meeting individual academic and behavioral goals.
Assist the teacher in providing students with a highly structure, safe, therapeutic environment that fosters cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth.
Assist with classroom management, such as organizing instructional and other materials for the program.
Provide instructional services in the computer laboratory, while under the direct supervision of a teacher and/principal.
Serves as the chief source of information for teacher substitutes assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
Immediately reports to certified staff any student behaviors, problems or special circumstances which are violations of the student handbook.
Communicate effectively using the designated methods, with parents as necessary regarding student progress, behavior, activities, and development.
Employ creative methods of instruction and utilize a variety of materials within the structure of the designated curriculum
Inform the principal whenever a student's attendance is unsatisfactory;
Provide the principal with an up-to-date copy of the schedule of classroom activities and lesson plans;
Assist in preparation of reports and individualized plans for students and ensure that all paper work in legible and submitted in a timely manner.
Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
Perform such other professional duties as may be assigned by the principal. (i.e. Accompanies students on field trips as necessary.)

Qualifications
This position requires a minimum:
High school diploma required
One year of experience working with children (school-age preferred).
20/30 hour child development (preferred, but not required)
Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or has obtained an associate's (or higher) degree.
Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics as
appropriate.
Some understanding of the academic and behavioral needs of students and intervention strategies utilized to assist them in the teaching/learning process is preferred.
